Teacher of the Year
2020 Blue Cross and Blue of Alabama Kids Mercedes Marathon
Over the next five months, our school will be training for the 2020 Blue Cross and Blue of Alabama Kids Mercedes Marathon which will be held Saturday, February 15 in downtown Birmingham. The kids marathon is an innovative, endurance building running/walking program for K-5th graders. Our goal is to assist your children in building endurance, setting and accomplishing long-term fitness goals and enhancing their self-esteem while teaching them valuable lessons about making health and fitness a regular part of their life. Last year, we had 147 students participate from SSC. It’s a great way to teach our students the importance of a healthy lifestyle. I am keeping track of all students progress towards completing the 25.2 miles that they need to accomplish and I will submit those miles prior to the event.
If you would like to register your child in the kids marathon please visit www.mercedesmarathon.com . Registration is $20. This MUST be done by NOVEMBER 15th

PTO Fundraising 2019-2020
What are our fundraisers? Our major fundraisers include our annual fall Change for Change drive and our spring Fairy Tale Festival. Throughout the year we will also have school spirit nights, everyday fundraisers, PTO dues and donations, and offer spirit wear. This handout will give you a look ahead at what to expect during the school year and let you know how much money we hope to raise at each event.
Fairy Tale Festival Friday, February 28th, 2020 Last year we introduced a new fundraiser that was a huge success! We hope you’ll join us for dancing, stories, activities, character photos, dessert and much more! Dress up as your favorite fairy tale character if you wish. Our Fairy Tale Festival is a community-wide event so bring a neighbor or a friend. Tickets are needed for children 2 and up, and they are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. All activities are included in the ticket price and Chick-fil-A will be available for purchase with 10% of sales donated to SSC! The Fairy Tale Festival will also kick off our silent auction fundraiser. The goal of this event, including the auction, is to raise $9,000 for our school.
Spirit Nights There will be four spirit nights held throughout the year - two in the fall and two in the spring. The goal for our Spirit Nights is to raise $1,000 total ($250 per event) for our school.
November 7, 2019 @ Chick-fil-a
January 16, 2020 @ Let’s Play

Everyday fundraisers - Our everyday fundraisers are ways that you can help us raise money for SSC with things you’re already buying. They include Planet Fundraiser, Box Tops for Education, Publix Partners, and Coca-Cola Give. The goal of our everyday fundraisers is to raise $3,100 for our school.
