Curiosity is the very basis of education and it you tell me that curiosity killed the cat, I say only the cat died nobly.
Kindergarten Selection Process
Our Kindergarten Selection Process is now online under "About Us" on our school's website. The following is shared:
Sipley School offers a half-day kindergarten program. The morning kindergarten session is from 8:20 – 11:05 and the afternoon kindergarten session is from 12:10 – 2:55. Our students who receive bus transportation are placed in the morning session. All other students are placed in the morning or afternoon session, so parents should prepare for either option. Parents may submit a preference request of morning or afternoon to the principal, prior to the end of registration. This request for morning or afternoon kindergarten must be e-mailed to the principal at email@example.com. Parents may request morning or afternoon sessions at the start of kindergarten preregistration, which is April 8, 2015. Selection of classes will be made as follows:
- Splitting classes into two groups, based on the number of students who have completed enrollment. This split occurs only when the class size reaches 26 students (class size limit is 25 students).
- Reviewing parent preferences and the date of receipt of their e-mail (this will set up somewhat of a first come, first serve scenario)
- Assign students to sessions
- Example - If 20 parents request morning kindergarten and only 30 students register, there will be 15 students in each session of kindergarten, thus only 15 parent requests for morning kindergarten will be granted, pending the number of students who get bussing.
Kindergarten preregistration will take place on Wednesday, April 8.
All parents will be notified of their child’s placement in morning or afternoon kindergarten on Monday, August 10, 2015.
No School - Friday
As students are off on December 12, our staff will be engaged in learning more about technology. Paul Solarz will be one of the presenters that we will learn from. He is one of 50 finalists who will vie for $1 million and world recognition. Check out a video of him - http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20141210/news/141219947/
Our staff will also learn new ways to engage students in meaningful ways using technology as a tool within the classroom.
We are looking forward to this day of learning.
