All Things Baker!
Principal's Message!
Hello All,
I want to thank you all for another amazing week! It was so exciting seeing everyone at Curriculum Night and watching as you all walked a day in your kiddos’ shoes! It means so much that you took the time to come out!
I found the following quote on the blog of an educator that I respect tremendously. It was an excellent reminder of how I want to approach every day!
"There are about 95 essential things you need to know in life. One of them is to be kind to people. The others you can figure out as you go!"
I know it seems like such a simple thing, however, I know it is sometimes difficult to do even in its simplicity. I still believe that it is worth the effort. I watched Baker students this week pick up trash that was not theirs, ask a friend that was sitting alone at lunch to sit with them, invite someone to join a game at recess, hold the front door during carline until there were no more cars, and volunteer to read a story to a friend who was struggling to read it alone. We may not always reach the goal, but we should never lose sight of it. Set the bar high and strive to reach it. I watched our kiddos strive all week to be kind! It is what we expect of our kiddos and what we should expect of ourselves.
As always, thank you all for your support and at Baker Elementary we believe In a World Where You Can Be Anything . . . Be Kind!
Sincerely,
Danielle Wallace
Raise Craze is Coming!
Our one and only fundraiser of the year will begin on September 11th and will conclude with a celebration during Specials in September 27th. The kick-off will occur during the Patriotic Assemblies on September 11th, and your students will bring home information about the kindness-focused program that day.
There are a number of things we like about this program. Some of the highlights are:
- There is nothing to sell
- There are no pledges to collect
- Students learn about and show kindness to as a way of “paying it forward,” no matter the number or amount of donations received
- Individual prizes are not tied to donation amount
- We are able to keep at least 90% of the money raised to purchase items needed at Baker
Please be on the lookout for more information. If you would like an initial overview of the program, check out this video: https://vimeo.com/103130774
Thank you!

Helping Kids Navigate in a Social Media Jungle!
September 16th
Following recent town hall meetings, parents have expressed interest in a monthly “roundtable” forum to learn and share, working together in the complicated journey of parenting. Parents-R- Partners (PRP) is a no-cost, open, safe place to discuss real-life topics that impact our children, our schools, and our families. We are blessed to have three local family counseling professionals who will offer their expertise in brief presentations/ video vignettes on pertinent topics and open discussion, giving practical helpful solutions. There will be different and relevant topics each month.
This month’s topic: “Helping kids navigate in a social media jungle”
