Habit 1- Be Proactive

Dear Parents:

We are so proud to be a Leader in Me School! Please take a minute to talk to your children about when they are being proactive. Being Proactive means you have a "can do" attitude and manage your mood, reactions, and attitudes. You do the right thing even when no one is looking. Check out Mrs. MacLeod's latest amazing video on Being Proactive! Love it!

Our Variety Show will have 2 shows with completely different acts on:

Wednesday 2/15 at 6pm

Thursday 2/16 at 6pm

  • Ticket Sales will be in front of school gate during week of February 6th
  • If you have a student in the Variety Show, you'll get access to Pre-Sale tickets by end of January.

Returning Family Survey: Each year at this time, Garden Road begins the task of planning our fall classes. It is critical to this process that we accurately project our enrollment for the 2023-24 school year. Please take a moment to answer this survey.

Important Upcoming Dates:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 25th - Dine Out @ Round Table Pizza (see below)

  • Monday, Jan. 30th - Professional Growth Day for Staff - Non student day

  • Friday, Feb. 3rd - Awards, Friday Flag, and Coffee with the Principal

  • Feb. 15th and 16th @ 6:00pm Variety Shows in the MPR

  • Wednesday, Feb. 15th - Spring Picture Day

  • Feb. 20-24 - President's Day & PUSD non-student days

  • SAVE THE DATE: GRES Auction March 11th

We still have about 35 students each day who arrive to school late. Please help us do better! We want all of our students in their seats in classes at 7:45 when school starts. Please arrive by 7:40, so kids have time to get to their class room before the bell rings.

Take care,

Lisa Maguire

In the Library

We observed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s day this week. We read books, watched videos & discussed how he made it possible for us all to sit & learn together, in our big cozy library!

We all know his famous "I have a dream" speech, which influenced the Federal Government to take direct actions to fully realize racial equality.

This week, the 5th graders watched a video about his other motivational speech called, "What is in your life's blueprint?" You may read it here or watch it here. Dr. King spoke these powerful words to a group of students at Barratt Junior High School in Philadelphia on October 26, 1967, six months before he was assassinated.

Student Transfer Requests

The Student Transfer Requests window for the 2023-24 School Year will open February 1st – March 31st. Families who live within the PUSD boundaries and would like to request a school other than their school of residence would request an INTRADISTRICT Transfer. Families who live outside the PUSD boundaries would request an INTERDISTRICT transfer. Please note, these transfer requests must be made prior to New Student Enrollment. If you have a new student joining us next year, please submit your request during the open window. Elementary school decisions will be made in August.
