Your True Colors Are Beautiful To Me!
I chose the song "True Colors" by Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake for the theme of today's newsletter. Take the time to check out the resources, activities and books that are designed to help you show off your true colors during this time away from one another. You have so many wonderful talents to share with those around you!
I love you lots,

GoNoodle: Good Energy at Home
We all love GoNoodle, but the website has recently added more resources that you don't want to miss! GoNoodle: Good Energy at Home is a free resource that provides tons of ways for kids and families to be active, stay mindful, and continue learning during our time at home! My favorite is called VICTORIOUS! Give it a try and don't forget to check out the American Sign Language printable. Sign language is also beautiful language to learn and share with others. I have a deaf cousin and learned some sign language when I was a child. I used basic alphabet letters and phrases to communicate with him when I was young. CLICK HERE to explore the "Victorious" lesson as well as lots of other Good Energy activities that will not only make you smile, but also teach you ways to help bring a smile to others around you! Thanks Mrs. Heather for sharing this resource!

Don't Be Afraid to Let Your Colors Show!
Noah Oakes, a high school Senior at North Duplin Jr/Sr, has a passion for anything involved with 3D printing! He went to NDE, just like you, and quickly discovered his passion for the components of STEAMA - especially Technology! Noah and I began having discussions this school year about my plans for our very first STEAMA Club, which is currently offered to our 5th and 6th grade students at NDE. When our club began to meet, Noah would often share lesson ideas that could be used to showcase the materials that are in our MakerSpace. All of our visits and brainstorming led to Noah teaching ME and my STEAMA Clubs everything that we know about 3D printing! He literally came and taught how-to lessons, helped finalize our designs, and checked in with me daily to help print student projects as well as a big Social and Emotional Learning project that I was working on with Mrs. Danielle Ficken (our School Counselor). As you can tell, Noah is a teacher, inventor, and helper by nature! While at home during this time of remote learning, Noah put his personal 3D printer to work and shared his talents with people across the country! He was asked by a doctor friend from California to design and print mask extenders with his personal 3D printer that would be used by healthcare providers to help ease the pain of constant mask wear.
Noah was able to use his talent and passion with 3D printing to help doctors and nurses across the country! I am very thankful for the knowledge that he has shared with me and our STEAMA Club students! Let Noah's story encourage you to go out, do what you love and share your talents with the world!
