Chapel of the Cross Faith & Family

Family Bible time for the week of April 26-May 2

Welcome to Chapel's Faith & Family!

This interactive Bible time is a great way for your family to gather around God's Word and read, listen, watch, sing, and do activities together that help you learn more about God's great love for you in Jesus.

Jesus Ascends to Heaven

Have you ever had to say goodbye to a friend or family member because you or they moved away? How did you feel?

Jesus was alive! He had risen from the dead! But now that His work on earth was done, it was time for Him to return to His Father in heaven. Jesus wouldn't leave His disciples alone, however---He would send the Holy Spirit to help them. He promised to always be with His disciples. That promise is for you and me too!

Opening Prayer

Dear Jesus, sometimes it feels like you are far away from us. Help us to see that You are always right here with us---loving us, forgiving us, and helping us in all that we need. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we share Your love with everyone around us. In Your name we pray. Amen.

Jesus Ascends to Heaven

Talk about it

  • What did Jesus DO before He ascended to heaven?
  • What did Jesus PROMISE before He ascended to heaven?
  • What did Jesus COMMAND before He ascended to heaven?
  • Imagine you are one of Jesus' followers. What is one thing you would ask Him before He ascended to heaven?

Jesus showed Himself to his followers for forty days after His resurrection, assuring them that He was really alive! He showed them from the Scriptures how He had fulfilled all the prophecies about the Messiah.

Jesus promised that He would send the Holy Spirit to empower them to preach the Good News about Him.

Jesus commanded His disciples to go and tell about Him to all people, to the ends of the earth.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Closing Prayer

Dear Jesus, You came as a human to fulfill Scripture and be our Savior. Then You ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father and prepare a place for us. Make us bold to tell everyone about Your death and resurrection and the joy of worshiping You. In Your name we pray. Amen.
