Welcome Back Timberwolves!
I welcome all of you who are new to our community, and I look forward to meeting you and your child, and seeing you throughout the school year. At any time throughout the year, whenever you need to communicate with me, please know that all you need to do is send me an email, pick up the phone and call my office, or schedule an appointment to meet with me in person. My email address is: jbojes@neisd.net and my office number is 210-356-5605. My administrative assistant's name is Thelma Raney.
Welcome everyone to an awesome school year. Go Timberwolves!
Helpful Reminders
Buses: The bus drop-off and pick-up location is in the front parking lot of the campus. In the mornings, please do not use the front parking lot between 7:00 am - 8:20 am, and 3:25 pm - 4:00 pm. Afternoon buses will begin parking in the front lot after 3:00 pm. If you are parked in the front parking lot and wish to leave before the buses do, please do not expect the buses to move once they are in position and parked - this is a safety hazard and the buses are too large to be making these kinds of maneuvers once they are in position and ready to load your child. The buses depart campus in the afternoon run at 3:35 pm.
Parent Drop-off & Pick-Up: This area is located in the back of our campus. Please follow our teachers' traffic directions in this area. I know that everyone wants to drop off and pick up their child on the innermost lane, but with more than 150 cars using this area each day, that expectation is not feasible to always achieve. So, please know that the number one goal is safety, and our staff members working this area are doing their best to manage the traffic and students coming and going each school day.
Entering our school: Thanks to our wonderful PTA for helping us initiate this project, we now have a new sliding window outside our main office for patrons to use when entering our school from the front entrance. After 8:30 am and before 3:25 pm, you may use our front entrance to park and enter our building. Check in at the sliding glass door prior to proceeding to your destination. When checking in, we will ask you for a valid driver's license with your photo, or state issued identification card, and will use a raptor system to create a temporary visitor badge for you to wear while on campus. If you have school business to attend before 8:30 am, park in the rear parking lot and enter from there. Proceed to the main office where we will provide you with a visitor badge. Please remember to sign in and sign out each time you visit us.
To feed or not to feed, that is the question: Parents may bring lunch from an outside food source to drop off for their child only. Do not bring food for anyone else, because it is a safety precaution protecting other students who may have a food allergy. We will not provide that food to anyone else other than your own child.

Peanut Butter Bowl!
Peanut Butter Bowl Saturday, August 27, 2016 7pm at Farris Stadium
What: (Potentially) Johnson vs. Brandeis Football Game could be MORE THAN A GAME-- where everyone WINS, especially HUNGRY KIDS in San Antonio.
How: Brandeis community led by Coach Katy Fleener (some help from Jeff), coaches wives, players, students, etc… Johnson community led by Coach Patti Rittimann (some help from Ron), coaches wives, players, students, etc and buy/collect/donate jars of creamy Peanut Butter (16 oz ranges $2.18 - $2.48 at HEB right now) in a friendly competition to feed hungry kids in San Antonio.
Why: There are 120,000 kids in Bexar County that are “food insecure.” Of those 120,000 FeedingAmerica.com indicates that 10%-20% of those children are actually “Chronically hungry children” which means anywhere between 12,000 and 24,000 kids in Greater San Antonio go hungry on the weekends. An organization called Snack Pak 4 Kids led by Leslie Kingman currently is able to provide weekend protein and snacks for 1,000 of these kids. They provide name brand food items that are discreetly placed in kids’ backpacks in 13 schools in San Antonio (by teachers or counselors) WEEKLY. It is discreet so that these hungry kids are not made fun of by other kids . A guardian has to sign an agreement up front to allow these snack packs to be provided. If there are any peanut allergies--it is indicated by the guardian. Of 1,000 kids that Snack Pak 4 Kids fed last year, just 5 guardians/parents indicated a peanut allergy.
WHY PEANUT BUTTER BOWL? Here’s where the Peanut Butter Bowl comes in--ONCE A MONTH Snack Pak 4 Kids puts a 16 oz peanut butter jar in the kids that provides extra PROTEIN throughout the month if they are hungry. That means that Snack Pak 4 Kids needs to collect 12,000 peanut butter jars a year and obviously they would love to feed more chronically hungry kids. If Brandeis and Johnson were able to collect…? We could help feed a lot of hungry kids.
So... The Peanut Butter Bowl could be a fun, positive, powerful EVERYBODY WINS situation. Hungry kids are provided for. Football players, students, community rally to GIVE and SUPPORT hungry kids. How much more positive would the Peanut Butter Bowl be than the Gucci Bowl? Should be able to get some fun publicity, press conference, have a lot of fun.
