Coaching 4 P's
Review, Preview, Praise and Problems: Nov. 16-20
Progress (FOE)
- Worked with third grade during grade-level meetings on the Serravallo Engagement Inventory. Our discussion began about engagement, but we tabled the inventories for now because the teachers felt overwhelmed. I will bring the matter up again at a later date.
- Observed in a first grade and fifth grade classroom to analyze schedules and teachings for authentic engagement. The goal is to have 75% of classroom time and 75% of students (as a beginning, but 100% is the goal) authentically engaged. I debriefed with both teachers and met with the fifth grade teacher again on Friday to discuss goals and strategies to reach them.
- Attended Coaches' PLC meeting at Northside on Thursday.
- Checked in with the 2nd grade upper RIT band group to see how they were progressing on their animal research and to clarify misconceptions and answer questions.
- Attended OPE Tailgate Party (Literacy Night) from 4-6 on Thursday which was a HUGE success!
- Continued working on printer-friendly MAP Reading RIT Band charts.
- Gathered resources for third grade Guided Reading group.
- Uploaded John Collins information from the Nov. 13 Early Release Professional Development to Google Drive and emailed it to non-homeroom teachers (at OPE),
Plan (OPE)
- Work with Math Coach on PBL PD goals.
- Meet with fourth grade teacher to discuss small group goals in her classroom.
- Work on State Cohort assignments (Data write-ups for student strengths and goals and HPLC results with goals and strategies to reach the goals).
- Review John Collins videos to pull-out segments for PLC discussions.
- Work on new RIT Band groups for 5th grade (OIS & use vocabulary).
- Continue working on printer-friendly MAP Reading RIT Band charts. This is a larger undertaking than I anticipated.
Praise
- OPE Tailgate Party (Literacy Night in disguise) was a tremendous success!
- I begin a co-teaching session with a fifth grade teacher when we return from Thanksgiving Break to help a her "re-work" her classroom schedule and "happenings" with the purpose of increasing engagement.
Problems
No, I didn't leave the problems off; I am just so thankful for the changes of late that there really aren't any problems right now related to my progress and plan for this week.
