Holliday Happenings
Holidays Around the World
The students in Mrs. Littlefield's, Mrs. Laughter's and Mrs. Longworth's second grade homerooms participated in a "Holidays Around the World" unit by decorating suitcases and then traveling to different countries to learn about their winter celebrations. The students started in the USA to study Christmas and Kwanzaa, then traveled to Egypt to study Ramadan, followed by Israel to learn about Hanukkah. They also traveled to Mexico to learn about Las Posadas, and China to study Chinese New Year. They also went to the Netherlands and Germany for St. Nicholas Day. In Italy they learned about the Feast of the Three Kings, and in India they learned about Diwali. In each country, they learned of the traditions, made a craft, and sampled foods. What a fun way to learn about other's customs!
Fourth Grade is Under Construction
The students in Mrs. Hopf's fourth grade class created gingerbread houses this week. Yummy!
