Dr. Looney's Message
Happy Friday before Spring Break!
Our Book Fair ended today. If your child missed their opportunity to buy a book, it's okay. There are still lots of ways to get great reading material. We have our Summerour Media Center, as one option. But it's Spring Break; I recommend taking the family to check out Norcross' brand new library, just down the road on Buford Highway. It sits just in front of Lillian Webb Park. This would be a great family excursion on Spring Break.
We also have 3 lovely parks right here in Norcross: Pinnacle Park, Thrasher Park, and Lillian Webb Park. Sit at the park and take time to talk to the kids and see how they're doing.
Testing season begins immediately after Spring Break. It's time to make sure we are passing ALL of our classes, to buckle down on all of our studies.
Thank you for everything you do. Let's work together to make sure our kids are successful. Have a great, safe Spring Break.

Grade Level News You Can Use
6th Grade
Spring Break is finally here!
For many of us this time away from school is unstructured. Parents, don't be afraid to add a little structure and have your child use some time to make up assignments. This is also a great time for you to check into your child's grades and see what's missing and what can be done from home.
Stay safe!

Shout out to 8th grade science and their wonderful walkthrough with Ms. Nebel! He was impressed with the STELLAR engagement and the progression he was able to see from the start of the common lesson to the end of the lesson (see 2 pictures below).

Student EES Surveys
Summerour will be taking this survey on Thursday and Friday this week.
Parent EES Survey Open
Each year, GCPS asks our families about their child’s school as part of our commitment to improvement. This year, the school district is partnering with the Center for Educational Effectiveness to ask questions that provide feedback on nine characteristics of high-performing schools. In addition, the survey asks about two other areas associated with high-performing schools—district support for improvement and respect for diverse cultures and backgrounds.
The Parent/Family survey opened on Monday and will remain open through April 2. Please use the link or QR code found below to share your feedback. Make sure to select your preferred language on the first page (English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese).
Youth Art Month
Thank you to Mr. Bradshaw for organizing the great Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera gallery experience for our students and to Ms. Samuels for letting us use her room this week! Many classes got to see, discuss, and write about art! There were many great moments hearing our students discuss and interpret art! This was a great experience for our students during YOUTH ART MONTH!
Look at some of the work of our artistic "THINKERS" Showing off how "KNOWLEDGABLE" they are by writing about art!
I also want to share some more Black History portraits that were not completed until after our Black History program. These amazing 7th grade artists really captured their subjects!

Thank You!
Most athletics are done now, and many clubs are beginning to wrap up. Be sure to express your thanks to your child's coaches, teachers, sponsors, and mentors this year.
