Wind Symphony 2021-2022, Welcome!

July 1, 2021

Welcome to Cardinal Heights Wind Symphony!

Once again, congratulations on being a part of the 2021 - 2022 Cardinal Heights Wind Symphony! I am certainly taking some time to breathe from last school year, as well as get excited about even more in-person and collaborative musical experiences.

This coming school year will be exciting and momentous for many reasons including:

  • The final year of Cardinal Heights & Wind Symphony (fall of 2022 will mark the beginning of Central Heights, an 6th - 8th grade traditional middle school, as Sun Prairie West opens and we move to a 3 middle school and 2 high school town).
  • Hopeful return to ensemble music-making in a school setting! There were certainly some lessons learned in the virtual world, and we are excited to remember and grow what it means to make music as a team, live, and in person.

Wind Symphony Camp will allow us to gather before the school year begins (remember an early start this summer due to building construction), the afternoons of:

  • Tuesday August 10, 1 - 4pm
  • Wednesday August 11, 1 - 4pm
  • Thursday August 12, 1 - 4pm

Please RSVP as soon as possible using this link or the button below. This information will help us plan as best as possible. Thank you!

Band Lesson Academy - Resuming Fall 2022

In the past, many students and families have found value in taking private lessons with amazing professionals on their instrument. Good news - those teachers come right to Cardinal Heights after school on Tuesday! We'll be resuming this program this year - read below for more info.

About the Sun Prairie Band Boosters Lesson Academy

The Sun Prairie Band Booster Lesson Academy has been created to provide convenient access to quality private instrument instruction for students in the Sun Prairie Band Program. The program is designed to give students access to one-on-one instruction on their instrument with professional musicians/teachers that specialize on specific instruments. Students will focus on fundamental skills that are particular to his or her instrument.

The benefits of private instrument instruction include; accelerated study of instrument technique and repertoire, preparation of audition materials, or study of subjects of particular interested (e.g. solo literature or improvisation). Private study is a powerful tool in supporting musical growth in students. This program is organized by the Sun Prairie Band Boosters as a service to band students in Sun Prairie Schools.

The Sun Prairie Band Booster Lesson Academy is designed to serve those students not currently studying privately. It is not designed to take students away from local teachers not in the Sun Prairie Band Booster Lesson Academy and should not be interpreted as a signal to change teachers. There are many fine teachers in the immediate area who offer quality instruction.

When & Where:

  • Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School – Tuesdays, 3:00-9:00

I hope this newsletter finds you well. We are hoping to alleviate stress by getting information and dates out early - and it's okay to keep taking a break from school and band until we meet in August.
