MISSION: IGNITING A PASSION FOR LEARNING
Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
We would like to extend a heart-felt thank you for all of the food and monetary donations that came in during our Turkey Olympics Food Drive. We are truly humbled by the kindness of our school community. Additionally, thank you to all of the Veterans that took time to come speak with our 6th grade students, and thank you for your service. We are grateful that our students could learn from you.
Lunch Recess:
We do go outside everyday. Each year we remind students to bring a jacket to lunch with them, however, many do not wear a jacket to school. Please remind your child to bring appropriate clothing for the weather.
PBIS Update:
This month our students are working on being to ELT on time, have all necessary materials, and starting the daily task. The class is awarded tokens for each part of the goal met. These tokens fill their grade level tube outside the office. The grade level with the most tokens before Christmas break will be treated to an additional incentive the week of Christmas break. So far the tubes are filling quickly, we are proud of their attention to following expectations. This month students also created PBIS posters for the various areas of the school. Each poster states the expectations for that area, be sure to check them out the next time you are in the building.
Need Extra Help?
We are entering the time of year that students start to feel the need for extra help. We encourage parents and students to reach out to the teachers if you need to set up an afterschool appointment for additional help.
Missoula Children's Theatre
The Missoula Children's Theatre will be back for another production in January 2022. Add audition dates to your calendar today to ensure you don't miss the opportunity for your interested child. Children ages KG -grade 12 are eligible to audition for "Rumpelstiltskin". View the Audition Notice for full details.
Upcoming Incentive Day!
KMS will be having an incentive day on December 22, 2021. Students will have a choice between a movie in the KHS Theater (Elf) or a trip to Sunburst for tubing. More information, cost, and field trip form coming home soon!
Changes to Student Google Accounts
Starting November 29, 2021 students will no longer be able to freely search and listen to YouTube during the school day. YouTube proves to be quite a distraction for our learners. It is important for families to realize that if students are logged into their school account on Google Chrome at home, even outside of school hours, YouTube will not work. If students want to use YouTube at home, they will need to either log out of Chrome if they are using a standard laptop or desktop or log in with a personal Gmail account if they are using a Chromebook.
Thank you,
Mrs. Skelton

Lego League
Ten middle school students participated in the Lego League Robotics regional tournament held at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, WI. The students met twice a week for two months to prepare for the two events they participated in - the innovation project presentation and the robotics competition.
While the team did not move on the next round of competition, they learned a lot and performed admirably, having a great deal of fun in the process.
Student Services Updates
Classroom guidance lessons this month focused on Gratitude, the Science behind being grateful for the little things that we have, and not taking things for granted. Students shared what they were grateful for and how we can continue to be grateful towards others in our lives.
The 6th-grade “Pathway to Success'' parent/student conferences are well underway. Those parents/guardians that missed the sign-up, no worries, your child will meet individually with Mrs. Daane. They will bring home a yellow folder with the information that we discussed at the conference. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
