From the Principal's Desk
December 13
Greetings FWAFA Family,
With high school finals, performances, and end-of-semester festivities, we have a busy week ahead. Be sure to get your tickets for the TBC and SGT concerts at artsacademics.org/tickets.
Also, be sure to note that we have added a new event to the calendar. The Class of 2025 is hosting a Festive Fashion for $5.00 Day on Thursday, December 16. See more details below.
Just a reminder that when students arrive to school in the mornings, they are to come directly in the building and not loiter around the gazebo and courtyard area. Just the same, please be mindful that school dismisses at 3:45 p.m. and everyone needs to be picked up at this time and leave the campus. Students are not to be unsupervised in the parking lot after school. If you have a student driver, please help me relay this message. Thank you!
I hope everyone has a relaxing and fun Winter Break. Take note in your calendar that students do not return to school until Thursday, January 6.
Creatively yours,
Dr. Jackson

Volunteer Opportunities Through Voly.org
Due to technical difficulties at Student Council's High School Town Hall meeting a few weeks ago, the information regarding voly.org was not covered.
Voly.org is a volunteer website designed to help organizations and individuals locate volunteer opportunities and programs. It conveniently has organizational tabs to sort opportunities by cause, location, requirements, etc. Below is a screenshot with arrows pointing out some cool features the website has to make your volunteer-finding that much easier (save for later, location/organization, volunteer requirements/submit, number of volunteers still needed, sidebar filters).
If you would like to spend some of your time volunteering, Voly.org can help you find volunteer opportunities.

Teacher Detention - January 10
Are you ready to pay to put your teachers away? Now you can!
FWAFA Thespians Troupe 6391 will be holding a fun new fundraiser Monday, January 10, 2022, called Teacher Detention.
Teacher Detention will be a day when students can pay $0.50 per minute per student to put teachers in detention which will keep teachers from teaching their subject matter during the time they are in detention. They may STILL teach… just not their subject! For example, a teacher could teach juggling instead of elementary theatre, or a science teacher could read a book to the class. Teachers can take students outside, weather permitting. Teachers may also show an educational movie and tie it to a literary lesson. The ideas are endless.
One more twist: if students raise over $50 for the teacher for the class period, then the students will be able to choose whatever activities that the teacher has pre-approved in lieu of class on Monday, January 10, 2022.
Our 3rd through 12th-grade students will be notified if a teacher is willing to be placed in detention, then that class period must raise the funds to assign their teacher 45-minute detention.
Detention payments will be collected on Thursday & Friday, January 6 & 7, 2022, in each teacher’s room.
Put those teachers in detention!
Attendance Notes to attendance@fwafa.org
If your student is tardy or absent, please send notes to attendance@fwafa.org. Also, a student needs to bring in a doctor or parent note within 3 days after the absence for an unexcused absence.
