Meet Mrs. Shiffer
Greetings NOE Families!
I am thrilled to be your new North Ohio Elementary Principal. I accepted the position with great pride and look forward to continuing to carry out the mission statement to provide a quality education that inspires each and every student to achieve their potential and become productive citizens.
Ms. Bolen and I have been working together to ensure the transition is smooth and focused on what is best for students and families!
I come to you as a lifelong resident of northern Michigan with over 20 years of experience in education. In 2001 I started my career as a kindergarten teacher. Since then I have worked in the classroom teaching at various levels up to 6th grade in three districts. In addition to my teaching experience, I have experience as a Literacy Interventionist, a Literacy Coach and a Behavior Coach. I finished my Master’s Degree in 2005 and in January 2020, I became the Mio AuSable Elementary Principal.
My husband I have three active boys! Together we enjoy spending our time traveling, camping and enjoying just about any sport; the out-of-doors kind and the athletic kind. Our energetic German Shorthaired Pointer, Lucy, rounds out our family.
I am honored to be part of the GCS team and look forward to personally connecting with you throughout the year!
Educationally,
Celeste Shiffer
From The Nurse
Often families wonder, "When it is ok to send my student back to school?" Some quick guidelines to keep in mind are that a child must be fever free without any fever reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school and if a child has been throwing up or has diarrhea he/she needs to remain home for 24 hours from the last episode. And please remember to call the office to notify us of the absence.

Kindness Counts!
Throughout the month of February NOE will be focused on KINDNESS! Each day will provide an opportunity to share kindness, show kindness and receive kindness. Be sure to ask your student how he/she displayed kindness!
Helpful Reminders...
- Research indicates that students with good attendance (regular and on-time) routinely have higher academic achievement than those who have poor attendance.
- Sleep (real restful sleep) is another indicator for success at school. Research notes that students who are well-rested have better attention, focus and over all health.
- Birthday invitations are not to be distributed at school this year.
