Perhaps, the best thing you can do with children at home is to read with them. Make reading part of the daily routine during the break.

Spend time developing phonemic awareness.

Encourage children to sound out the words.

When reading to your child, ask questions about the story. After reading, invite them to retell the story in their own words. Ask what happened in the beginning of the story, during the middle, and at the end.

Make time for exercise and get outside when possible.
