OLVCS Updates
January 20, 2022
Dear Families and Friends of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School,
Report cards will be coming home today. Please check your child’s backpack and return the signed envelope at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your participation in the dollar dress down day for Thon. We raised $500 for Four Diamonds! Thank you for going above and beyond, a wonderful witness to our faith.
Weekly Mass: Ms. Gorzelnik’s 4th grade sponsored our Friday Mass and did a great job. Band members from 4th and 5th grade provided a superb prelude for the Mass. Father George spoke to the children about their consciences with a family responsibility example, so I would not be surprised if you hear some good confessions this evening.
Mr. Terry Stec will be providing two talks: School Safety on Monday, January 23; and Social Media and Current Drug Trends on Monday, February 6. Having heard Officer Stec speak on both of these topics, I promise that it will be time well spent. Please see his e-announcements for more details.
Catholic Schools Week: Please join us on Sunday, January 29, as we kick off Catholic Schools Week at the 9:30am Mass. If your child would like to participate in the Mass, please click on the signup link below to see what is available. Donuts, coffee, and juice will be served in the OLV Gym following the Mass. Please feel free to take a self-guided tour through the building that morning. Signup for Mass here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0E45AEAB2EAAF49-catholic
As always, there are numerous opportunities to get involved in our school community found below.
Thank you, God bless, and have a great weekend,
Jim Hoy

As the basketball season is in full swing, both the boys and girls basketball teams faced 3 opponents in 7 days. Last Friday, both our girls and boys teams played home games against the Belleville Thunder and came out victorious. The score of the boys games was 39 to 15. The score of the girls game was 26 to 5.
On Monday, our Crusader boys split with the Juniata Indians. In the B game, the OLVCS boys won handedly, 30 to 11. The A game was a tough fight, ending with Juniata winning 34 to 37.
Tuesday the Crusader girls played a re-match against the team from Park Forest. Our girls played strong but could not pull through. The game ended with a “W” - 21 to 17. Yesterday, the girls team traveled to Southern Huntington for a game against a very talented team. The Crusaders fell 46 to 10.
Thank you to Mr. Paul Fritsche who took amazing photos of our student-athletes at the games against Belleville. Posters with some of these images will soon be gracing the walls of the OLVCS lunchroom.

Saint Joseph’s House System Builds Character, Relationships, and School Spirit
The Houses are governed by a House Council composed of members of each House. The House Council also organizes school-wide events. “My favorite House Council event is the bonfire at the end of homecoming week," said Kita Chappell, head of the House Council. "It wraps up such a fun week and brings the whole student body together to enjoy some s'mores and sing around the campfire.”
