Principal's Message
Skyline K-8 Community,
Happy Friday! Our “Feed the Eagle Sign” is up and it looks AWESOME. Thank you to our Skyline K-8 Foundation and PTA for all of your support.
Thank you for doing such a great job in turning in dismissal forms – it makes the process so much better. If there is a change in the regular schedule, please include all of the following information when contacting the office at skylineoffice@pps.net:
Student’s name
Dismissal change
Day and date the change is required and how long it will be if an ongoing activity.
Classroom teacher if known
Submit at the beginning of the day – no later than noon - or prior to that day.
For Middle School Students:
Notes will be given to the student if there is a change from what they are expecting or they need to ride a bus that is not their home bus or is their same bus, but they are going to a different stop. Thanks for helping us make sure everyone gets to where they are supposed to go.
You may receive a verification form from your child(ren) this month. This means it has not been turned into the office yet. It’s important for the office to have correct and up to date information on file to be able to contact you when necessary. If you haven’t done so already, please review, make any necessary changes and then sign and return to the office as soon as possible.
Don’t forget Back to School Night - Curriculum / TAG Info Night is next Tuesday on September 25th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. We will meet in the gym at 6:00 p.m. where I will welcome families, introduce staff, and the PBIS Team will go over new procedures. At 6:30 p.m. families will be dismissed to visit classrooms until 8:00 p.m.
Teachers will be expected to go over their schedules, curriculum, classroom procedures and communication plans. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Have a great weekend!

I am looking forward to seeing you all at our curriculum night on Tuesday. As a working mom, I understand how tough it can be to make it to school events. I really appreciate how supportive our community is and how often our families show up for events.
See you Tuesday,

Are your middle school students coming home and talking about their electives? This week I had fun watching all middle school student engage in the electives that they were in. Spanish is in full Spanish mode where the students are only hearing and speaking Spanish, in Health and PE the students are learning lots and working hard. In Music, well the whole school can hear music and when watching the students they are engaged in the instrument that they are playing and supporting others! In Technology our students are busy making all our school-wide morning announcements. What! You don't know what our morning announcements are... Well, come to Back To School Night and you will see for yourselves!
Check out some of the great Middle School Electives pictures!
In K-5 it is fun to see all the systems teachers have in place to support our PBIS program and student success! Check out this teacher trick from Ms. Nagel. She uses battery powered lights to show her students what voice level they should be at during class time. The students are really taking to it and even taking the initiative to light up the light when they begin an activity!

This is the Intellectual TAG test that is done with all second-grade students in Portland Public Schools. Letters will be coming home with information from your child's classroom teacher next week as to when within the window they will be testing.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the Intellectual TAG test or the TAG program as a whole. I will be holding an informational meeting at Back to School night as well.

Foundation Thank You
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
The Foundation would like to give a HUGE shout out to Wes Shinn and Miriam Long for helping to create the new fundraising sign for Skyline! We are so lucky to have such talented parents in our community who can produce something so beautiful!
The sign will help our community track our fundraising efforts for our new "Feed the Eagle" campaign. Please join us at Back to School Night to learn more.
This was truly a team effort and we would also like to thank our very own Kate Eskew for managing this project!
The Feed The Eagle sign is located in the entry of the school at the top of the stairs just outside the office. Please check it out next time you're in the school.
