Volunteers on Campus
We greatly appreciate our parent and community volunteers, as they provide valuable support for our staff and students in our classrooms and on our campuses. In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and in accordance with County and State public health guidance, we began this school year with restricted access for adults on our campus.
While we will continue to be mindful and diligent about health and safety concerns, the declining community COVID-19 case rate, the successful implementation of our modified quarantine student testing program, and the expanded availability of vaccines for elementary students has created an environment that supports the loosening of restrictions with regard to classroom volunteers.
As of November 8, 2021, limited numbers of parent and community classroom volunteers will be welcomed on our campuses using the following criteria:
Volunteers must show proof of vaccination.
Volunteers must be cleared through our District’s online volunteer portal.
Classroom volunteers are limited to a maximum of 2 in a classroom at any given time.
We look forward to the expanded support of our students and teachers through our partnership with our volunteer community!
Candy for the Troops
Ready to get that Halloween candy out of your house? Please consider bringing any leftover candy to the Altamont Creek office. We will be donating candy to Operation S.A.M., which is a non-profit organization that sends packages to our troops to show our support to those deployed all over the world, especially those deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Before School Change
Starting Monday, November 1st, we are going to make a slight change to the before school procedure. We are asking ONLY kindergarteners to enter by the flagpole and have Grades 1-5 enter on the blacktop and stay on the blacktop until the 8:27 bell. Students will need to keep their backpacks with them on the blacktop until the bell rings.
Veterans Day Flag Salute
We would like to host a Veterans Day whole school flag salute on the morning of Wednesday, November 10th. We are seeking parent (or grandparent) veterans who would be willing to participate and be honored. If interested please contact Jessica Calkins at jcalkins@lvjusd.org. This is a student-only event. All veterans must show proof of vaccination.
Standby List Available for November 10 & 11 COVID-19 Clinics
Appointments are full for both days, however, those that want to add their name to a waitlist can do so: COVID-19 Vaccination Standby List
Crosswalk & Student Valet Parent Volunteers
Altamont Creek Elementary is looking for several adult volunteers to become part of our Lunch Bunch. These volunteers will help assist and supervise students during their lunch break.
Please sign up for as few or as many time slots as you are able. We appreciate all the help!
Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!
*** Please note: LVJUSD is requiring that all volunteers coming onto any school campus MUST have their COVID 19 vaccination. Please bring your COVID 19 Vaccination Record Card (or photo of it) when you come to volunteer so that we can confirm your vaccination status. ***
BAG YOUR BOOKS!
With rainy weather upon us, we are starting to see WET library books returned to the library every day! Please provide your Wildcat with a large plastic bag to protect their library books from the elements (and yourself from pesky library fines). 2.5 gallon zip-top bags work beautifully for this purpose. If you prefer, bags can be purchased in the library for $1 each. Thank you!
