Message from the Principal
Dear Knight Families,
We had a very nice short week with an opportunity to celebrate our veterans for their service and courage. Thank you! This quarter will fly by with the holiday season in full effect.
Mid-quarter Progress Grades
Midterm grades will be posted today. These are progress grades that can change even by the end of the day. We are seeing the usual hills and valleys that come with a college prep accelerated program. Our students are working hard and doing great taking on these challenges.
Long-term Projects and Time Management
Procrastination is invisible, but affects many of our students and we can see it beginning to creep in. We use agendas every day and will be using our academic lab/conference times to help students stay on track. Science fair and other long term projects have already started! So, what can parents do? A whiteboard calendar for home can work wonders with time management! I know free time is scarce, but spending some time now, in November, can make for a relaxing winter break. I announced this to the whole school today so kids are aware. Let's help our students fight the urge to procrastinate and put assignments off. Teamwork at home and school helps with student success!
Tax Credit Donations
ACPO will be looking to use tax credit funds for new student laptops and supporting our move to the Erie campus. Please consider making your Arizona State tax credit donation to AZ College Prep Oakland. Please ask family and friends to donate online as well. It's easy and donations made within the AZ tax credit allotted amounts come back to you! A tax credit is a full refund, not a deduction. Check out the link below for amounts. Thank you for your support.
I hope you have a happy and healthy weekend.
Go Knights!

POWER HOUR REGISTRATION WEEK OF 11/17/2020
Power Hour is an academic support we provide at ACPO on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays throughout the school year. It is a time where students can go to study and work on any of their academic classes. If needed, there is a classroom teacher available to answer questions. Space is limited to 20 students and pre-registration is required. All students must have a reserved a spot prior to attending a session. Power Hour runs from 2:50 pm to 3:50 pm Tuesday-Thursday's. Room locations are listed in the Upcoming Events section above.
Students must be picked up promptly at 3:50 pm at parent pick-up. As a reminder, ACPO does not have afterschool care. Students continually picked up late may lose the privilege of participating in Power Hour.
Notes:
- These are not instructor led sessions and parents must provide student transportation.
- In order to attend, all students must signup weekly through signup genius to ensure sufficient space is available.
- Under current Executive Order, facial coverings are mandated.
To ensure that all students have the opportunity to attend Power Hour as needed, students may only be signed-up for 1 week at a time.

ACP LIBRARY UPDATE
We are currently limiting the number of students allowed in the library to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Students are able to sign up for a time to visit the library during lunch (after they eat) or for 30 minutes after school. They may sign up to work at a table, use a computer, or to browse the collection. Students will sign up via SignUpGenius. Parents may sign up for students, but please make sure the student’s name is listed! Click here for next week’s SignUpGenius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080844ADA72FA6F58-library4 and here for the week of Thanksgiving: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080844ADA72FA6F58-library5 A link to the SignUpGenius form can also be found on the ACP-Oakland Library website, which is located here: https://www.cusd80.com/domain/5815. Students may still put books on hold to be picked up in the library! Information regarding placing holds for books is also on the library website. Keep reading!
Also, did you know Mrs. Parzych keeps an Amazon wish list for books she would love to add to our ACP library? If you are ever interested in donating books, you can go here to see what is needed: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/R1EE5TUZJM30?ref_=wl_share We are so thankful for all of our generous ACP parents!

TIME TO ORDER IS TICKING AWAY! YEARBOOK SALES BY PRE-ORDER ONLY
Don't forget to order a yearbook for your student(s). ACP does not buy extra yearbooks to sell at the end of the school year. Be sure to pre-order yours now before prices increase, and before presales end. Not the right time financially? Families may reserve a yearbook by making a partial deposit and periodic payments through Josten's online system. We don't want any students to miss out!
