Walk to School Day is October 4!

International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October. On Wednesday, October 4, students and families can choose to walk to Claxton. If you don't normally walk/ride to school, you can choose to meet up at two locations: Weaver Park parking lot OR the Fuddruckers on Charlotte Street parking lot by 7:15.

Claxton staff will be at both locations to help guide students to Claxton and will leave by 7:30. Any student riding a bike, scooter or skateboard should wear a helmet.

Questions? Contact Ms. Rigsby at karen.rigsby@acsgmail.net OR 828-350-6533. We look forward to seeing you!

Fall Picture Day needs volunteers

Fall picture day is Monday, October 2. In order for the day to go smoothly and all children to look their best, volunteers are needed to help facilitate class arrivals, help with stray hair, PB&J faces and finding students' best smiles.

All volunteers will receive a photo package of their student for FREE! Volunteer space is limited, so please sign up asap and THANK YOU!

The Fun Run is approaching!!

Parents! One of this year’s biggest fundraisers for our PTO is the Fun Run! It’s an 11-day program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on October 3. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on October 13 (K-2 at 9:15 and 3-5 at 10:15. With our big goal of raising $20,000, we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it more profitable, easier, and fun.

Students will also experience an amazing character theme, CASTLE QUEST! an English castle theme all about being brave and living with character. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, students will learn the “SIX VIRTUES of a TRUE HERO” from a cast of colorful characters.

Donations will go toward our PTO to fund everything from t-shirts for students, teacher grants, field trips, and to the entire 9-day experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!

Eblen Charities Walk, Run or Roll 2017

Box Tops 4 Education

Did you know that the money that Claxton receives from the Box Tops 4 Education program directly benefits Coach Swain's PE program?! Claxton is ALWAYS collecting Box Tops, and we want your help!

You can start by clipping the Box Tops off approved products you already have in your pantry. You don't need to clip the actual product UPC — just the Box Tops logo will do. From frozen foods to produce and household cleaning products, there are literally hundreds of opportunities to help, and each Box Top is worth 10 cents. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it adds up fast. Box Tops are collected in the clear plastic bears located in the front hallway and gymnatorium.

There are so many participating companies! Participating companies and product lines include General Mills, Green Giant, Totino's, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Ziploc, Hefty, Juicy Juice, Betty Crocker and many more. Here is a link to the participating brands.

The Box Tops 4 Education program offers new discount coupons on popular brands each month and also offers benefits for online purchases! Click here to see this month's offers.

Clip those tops and lets fill those bears for Coach Swain!

Claxton Elementary is going GREEN!

If you would like to help reduce waste and receive Thursday Folder information online, please click the link below. You will be sent a link to the Thursday Folder packet in PDF form weekly. Your information will only be used for school-approved communication. Please be aware that even though you choose to go paperless, there still might be communication that requires a flyer be sent home for response. This is an additional sign-up option, if you returned the paper request that went home in Thursday folders, you are already on the list!
