Wind energy
By: Lizbeth Arce and Audrey Moore
How wind is formed and how it is used
- Wind is formed when the sun heats one side of the atmosphere differently than the other side.
- We use wind to turn turbines so that the turbines generate electricity
Is wind a renewable resource
Wind is a renewable resource and renewable means that an energy can be replenished
How the turbines generate energy
This is a picture of how the turbines generate energy and its process
Rows
Windmills are placed in rows to generate more electricity
The parts of a turbine
This is a picture of how the turbine works with all the parts of a turbine
Guaranteed to be pollution free
Advantages
The resource is a clean fuel source and wind energy doesn't pollute the air like power plants that rely on combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal and natural gas.wind turbines don't produce atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain or green house gases
Disadvantages
Wind farms are noisy and may spoil the view for people living near the. They also use up space and when there is no wind there is no energy.
Where wind is more abundant
The top 5 Countries where wind is most abundant are
- The United States
- India
- France
- Germany
- Spain
Harmful effects
Windmills create lots of noise while hardnessing the wind and uses up a lot of area for the farms and housing.they may not be polluting the world but they need a lot of metal to be made.
