Pine Run Elementary School
PINE RUN- Off To A Gritty Start!
Pine Run opened its doors 2013-2014 school year!! As our children entered our building they were welcomed with smiles, high fives, and warmth. Once settled in their classrooms, students and teachers began the important task of creating positive and productive classroom communities. Throughout our first week children enjoyed "getting-to-know-you" activities, team-building exercises, and practicing daily routines.
In addition, our children also began learning about "GRIT"! Gritty behaviors include perseverence, determination, hard work, and risk-taking. Grittiness is what helps us learn new things, especially when it is challenging, confusing, or just plain hard. Fourth graders sanded wood, illustrating how effort leads to change. So parents and students can look towards hearing about and practicing gritty behaviors in the exciting year ahead!!
Fourth grade students set goals and wrote them on wood.
Sanding away goals is hard work.
It is important to know what you want to achieve!

Staying Safe—During school hours all exterior doors are locked. All visitors using the main entrance are required to ring the buzzer, sign-in at the office, show identification, and wear a visitor’s badge.
Building Strong Minds and Strong Bodies!!
Just a friendly reminder that Pine Run does not use food to celebrate in-class birthdays. While not required, if you do want to treat your child to something special at school on his or her special day, here are some suggestions:
Purchase and dedicate a library book in your child's name.
Send in a book for the class library.
Let your child bring in photos of himself/herself over the years.
Send in a plain white T-Shirt for all the class to sign with fabric markers.
Hand out small tokens such as pencils, stickers, bookmarks or erasers.
We will still have classroom parties and celebrations throughout the year. Treats may be brought in for these special events as long as there are healthy food options for children to choose.
