We have so many events planned for you and your children this school year, including our very exciting Fun Run in September. This first newsletter is designed to help you with questions you may have. If there are any questions that are not answered with this newsletter, please contact us at 210-397-0200.

Meet The Teacher - August 18th - 4:30 - 6:00PM

We will host our Meet The Teacher night on August 18th, 2022 from 4:30 - 6:00PM. This is a “come and go” evening, so you do not need to feel rushed. Our teachers will be here to greet you and your family. Students may bring school supplies to drop off in the classroom. Please plan to join us this evening, we are looking forward to seeing all of our Forester families.

Please login to HAC for your teacher's name. Student schedules and/or course requests are not "official" until the actual first day of school. Changes to teachers are subject to change up until and possibly after August 22nd.

Child Nutrition

Starting in 2022-23, school meals will no longer be offered at no cost to all students. If you think that your child may qualify for benefits, we encourage you to fill out an application for meal benefits.

Free and Reduced-Price Meal applications will be available online at beginning August 15th. You are encouraged to complete an online application instead of a paper application if you are able. The online application has the same requirements and will ask you for the same information as the paper.

Health Forms

If your child will need any medications administered this school year, you will need to fill out new health forms. This link includes asthma action plans, food/allergy forms, and general medication forms. We would also like to welcome our new Nurse, Mrs. Lorretta Dodd.

Safety is Top Priority at Northside ISD

In Northside & Forester Elementary, the safety of our students and staff is one of our top priorities. We regularly review and revise our safety plans and procedures to enhance security. Keeping our schools safe requires continuous work and communication with our students, staff, and families. Our approach to safety focuses on three areas – our people, our facilities and technology, and our procedures. Below, Dr. Brian Woods, explains what NISD is doing regarding safety in our schools

First Day of School Procedures

Parents can drop off students as early as 7:00AM in the front of the building. Parents may drive thru and drop off students in the drop off lane. Parents who want to walk students up to the front of the school must park in the side parking lot to prevent students from crossing traffic. Parents may walk students into the foyer and staff will guide students to their designated area.

Big picture

Dismissal Procedures

Please refer to the graphic above for dismissal procedures. We have 4 options to dismiss Forester students:

1. Bus Riders

2. Parent Drive Up

3. Parent Walk Up

4. Unaccompanied Walker

Parent Drive Up - If you choose to stay in your vehicle and pick up your child, your child will be a parent drive up. You will drive thru the front of the school and your child will be called using their IDismiss number. This number will be given to parents at meet the teacher. Please display this number every day to speed up the pick up line.

Parent Walk Up - If you choose to park in the side parking lot and get out of your vehicle, you will be a parent walk up. You will park your vehicle, walk to the side door, give your iDismiss number to the staff member, and your child will be sent down using their IDismiss number. This number will be given to parents at meet the teacher. Your child will exit the side door where you are located.

Unaccompanied Walkers - If you choose to have your child walk home, they will be an unaccompanied walker. These students will be escorted to the end of the Forester driveway and they will walk home. Staff will not wait for parents to pick up, as this is not a parent pick up location.
