From Our Nurse!
Dear parents/guardians, as your students prepare to return to school, please be mindful that we are still experiencing cold and flu season as well as COVID. If your student has any of the following symptoms, please keep them home from school and have them tested for COVID and the flu
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Cough
- Runny nose/congestion
- Fatigue
- Nausea/vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fever
Please submit COVID test results, positive or negative, to me at robyn.wisti@lcps.org and notify our attendance secretary of their absence.
It is important to remember your student must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication, in order to return to school.
Feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns
Teacher Cadet!
Teacher Cadet – Interest form open until January 27th
What is Teacher Cadet?
The Teacher Cadet program is a “grow our own” initiative that consists of two dual-enrollment (DE) courses offered to high school students in Grade 11 and Grade 12 who may be interested in pursuing a career in education.
To learn more about teacher cadet click here.
How do I submit an interest form?
The Teacher Cadet student interest form is now available to current Grade 10 students. Student directions are available here.
Students may express interest for the upcoming 2023 - 2024 school year via the Student Opportunities portal in LCPSGO. Eligible students should express their interest in the Student Opportunities portal (LCPS Go) by January 27, 2023.
The student interest form requires a student-created response (i.e., presentation, essay, drawing, video, etc.) and two recommendations. Students will need to provide names and email addresses for two recommenders.
**If you are a rising 12th grader, the Teacher Cadet Interest Committee can review individual requests on a case-by-case basis for students who are not in Grade 10. Students may reach out to cte@lcps.org directly to express interest.
Career Center News!
Seniors - As Mr. Duellman highlighted during the Senior Meeting, winter break is a great time to start networking and looking for opportunities for Capstone. To see all details, check out the presentation shown during the meeting.
If all done with college applications then turn towards scholarships. There is a list at the end of this email for you to explore. Each week newly added ones are flagged as NEW so once you have done your due diligence on the current list, you can focus on just the new ones moving forward.
Complete the FAFSA.
If you have received any acceptance letters and any scholarships, please let Ms. Marchante know about your acceptance and if you received any scholarships! We would love to know your accomplishments.
You can come to the Career Center or email tiziana.marchante@lcps.org
Juniors - I would encourage you to sign up for the SAT/ACT for March or June of this year. The earlier you sign up, the better chance you have to take the test in Loudoun County vs traveling a ways the morning of the test. To sign up for the SAT go to collegeboard.org. To sign up for the ACT go to act.org.
Not sure whether you want to take the test? Read the article under "This is for you" section.
Sophomores & Freshmen - Look at your personal email. If it makes a statement about unicorns or video games or something you created back in 5th grade, it's time to update it. You need a personal email that is straight forward like first, middle initial and last name or in the reverse order.
