NO SCHOOL MONDAY
Pizza and a Show
If you have already signed up for pizza, we will see you at 5:30. If you forgot to sign up, no worries, you can still come for the show. Be here for the show by 6:15.
Readers Workshop
Students also have times when they read with a partner or a book club. Reading to partners helps build fluency as well as allows for discussions about the reading.
At the end of the workshop, students get a chance to share. This could be another way to follow up on the mini-lesson and share what they have practiced.
I have noticed kids reading a lot in our readers workshop at all grade levels. The best way to get better at reading is to read. You can support what is happening at home by reading with your child at home. I have three kids of my own in elementary school and we end each day before bed with stories. It is one of our favorite family things to do!
Jersey Mike's Fundraiser
This month's GPTO Dining Fundraiser is Jersey Mike's. For those who already ordered and received cards, all you need do is visit the Jersey Mike's at 7925 W. Layton Ave. from January 19th through the 22nd and present your card and pay $3.00 to get your sub. 100% of the proceeds will profit the GPTO. In the event you did not order a card in advance, please know a limited amount of extra cards will be available at Glenwood beginning January 19th.
What a great fundraiser, you get a $3.00 sub and you help support our students at Glenwood! Thank you for your support!
Question of the Weekend
This weekend's question is, "How is chocolate made?"
Good luck researching! Have fun!
