Learning more about state tests
Students in most grade levels are taking (or have taken) state reading, language arts, math and science tests. We appreciate the focus our students have given to the ISAT and the opportunity to show what they know. Below are links to learn more about the tests in advance of score reports. Click here for more information about assessments in the Kuna School District.
Join us in celebrating teachers May 8-12
The first full week of May is when we celebrate teacher appreciation week. This year that celebration will be May 8-12. On Friday, May 12, we'll take about an hour to celebrate our team as well as our teacher and classified staff members of the year from each school.
I encourage you to join us in celebrating our teachers that week by engaging with your schools parent organization or simply sending a kind note.
Thank you to our first responders, support teams
We regularly practice evacuation drills each month. This semester, we've had real evacuation drills in our schools. The most recent this week at Hubbard Elementary School.
Yesterday the Kuna Fire Department responded to a report of smoke at Hubbard Elementary School. Students and staff did a great job responding while authorities checked out the school.
The source of smoke was found — an HVAC unit.
I want to say thanks to our first responders, our district support teams, and the students and staff at our schools.
Student voice part of Initial Point principal selection process
We're proud to say that we believe in student voice when it comes to decisions that impact them. I appreciate students at Initial Point High School brainstorming questions and interviewing applicants for principal of the school next year.
Thank you to Reagan, Sarah, Wayland, Tristin, Leilani and Adan (not pictured).
FMS art students create title murals
When visiting Fremont Middle School make sure to look up! Eighth graders in Art II have the opportunity to paint ceiling tiles that remain at the school when they leave for high school. Some students in the Synergy Program at FMS display their tiles.
