Lady of the Week: Ms.Maudie Atkinson
Ms. Maudie is the outspoken woman that lives across from the Finch's. She makes cakes for the children and allows them to play in her yard, as long as they dont mess with her azaleas. She provided scout comfort when Jem and Dill didn't want her playing with t hem.She has a lot of respect, which is shown when she corrects Scout about Arthur Radley's name and dismisses the rumor about him not being alive instead of encouraging it. She is aware of what is said in Maycomb about the Radley's, but only sees them as different. She also has a lot of respect for Jem and Scout's father, Atticus Finch. Shes says that he is the same man in his house as he is in public streets. She even compares a drunk Atticus to to any other sober man in Maycomb, saying that he is still a better man.
Now jem and Scout, stay out of my azaleas!
That Ms. Crawford is such a gossip.
