Be The Light!

PHS honored our Seniors this week by joining the "Be The Light" movement.


PHS honored our class of 2020, first responders & essential workers this past Friday Night. This was a sign of support and recognition for our seniors, first responders, and all essential workers.

Breakfast/Lunch Distribution Days and Times!

Free breakfast and lunches will be distributed on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30am - 12:30pm at Emily G Johns and Plano Middle School. Students will receive 2 breakfasts and lunches on Monday and 3 on Wednesday.

IMPORTANT SAT Exams and AP Exams Updates:

  • All current Juniors are still required to take the SAT. The SAT that was going to be offered during the school day at Plano High School on Tuesday, April 14th is CANCELED. Juniors will now be testing in the fall of their senior year (the 20-21 school year). Specific date TBD!


  • The May 2, 2020 SAT test has been cancelled. Registered students will be refunded.



  • A new SAT Test date has been added in September. Students may register for the SAT for Saturday, September 26th. (This will not be administered at PHS. Students will select their own testing location).



  • Free remote/online resources are available for those students planning on taking AP exams in May.


  • Students scheduled to take an AP exam can choose to take their AP Exams at home either during the May 11-22 window OR the June 1-5 window. Please contact Mr. Denny (bdenny@plano88.org) with specific AP questions.



Updates: Computer Science Principles Course

This year, there will be no end-of-year multiple-choice exam in Computer Science Principles—your AP score will be computed from the Create and Explore performance tasks only. The scoring guidelines for the performance tasks are the same as the 2019 scoring guidelines


The Create and Explore performance tasks should be submitted to Ms. Chavez by May 20th!

Call 4 Calm Mental Health Resource


A new, free-of-charge emotional support text line, Call4Calm, is now available for Illinois residents experiencing stress and mental health issues related to COVID-19. Illinois Department of Human Services’ Mental Health Division launched the hotline, which connects people with the mental health services and other support systems they need.


Individuals who would like to speak with a mental health professional can text “TALK” to 552020 to connect with a counselor. The service is also available in Spanish by texting “HABLAR” to the same number.

Xello!

Xello is still available to ALL students during this time. Xello is a great way to explore career pathways and plans for after high school. Students already have lessons assigned and can access their lessons, interest inventories, etc. from home.


Students can easily access Xello by logging in to their PowerSchool first. If you or your student have questions about Xello please feel free to reach out to their counselor via email.
