LEVELING UP IN 2020
Howdy Hounds!
Thank you to everyone that participated in our Freddy's spirit night! It was a terrific Tuesday for steakburgers and frozen custard! We appreciate you supporting our school.
A huge shoutout to all of the families that are participating in our Charleston Wrap Fundraiser! We are looking forward to being able to purchase additional walkie-talkies, instructional resources for small group instruction, and PBIS Reward incentives! Remember that the fundraiser runs through Monday, November 30th. Thanksgiving Break might be a great time to get those sales in!
We enjoyed celebrating Veteran's Day on Wednesday by having our students wear red, white, and blue. Thank you to everyone that took the time to add to our Wall of Honor. It is a beautiful tribute to those that have served our great country.
Picture retakes are Tuesday, November 17th. Retakes are for any student that has newly enrolled at Huggins and missed picture day, any student returning their package for any reason and wanting to retake their picture (they must return their original package to the photographer in order to receive full credit for their package), any student that was absent on the original picture day, any student that did not purchase on picture day that has payment/online receipt for purchase on retake day, and any student that was virtual on the original picture day and did not get photographed. If your child is virtual and needs to do retakes, they can come from 8:30-9:00. Please pull up at the bus loading zone and someone will be there to assist.
We hope our Hound Families have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Bethany Cunningham
Principal
In honor of World Diabetes Day this weekend, let's wear blue on Monday to show our support!

Happy Holidays Huggins Family!
We are excited to announce the Huggins Angel Tree is almost ready! We are opening up the first opportunities to adopt families to our parents this year. Parents may call our front office at 832-223-1600 or email Ashley Allen (laura.allen@lcisd.org), starting on November 17th, to adopt a family for this holiday season.
This year we are asking our parents to purchase gifts that are age appropriate for the student based on information you receive from us. We are asking that gifts are at maximum $40 per student that you have adopted. We know you are a generous bunch, but this can cause a problem when spending is not equal among our kids. Please consider adopting more kids if you want to spend more than $40 dollars.
All presents are due to Huggins Elementary by Monday, December 7th, 2020. This will allow for time to deliver presents. Presents may be dropped off as soon as they are ready to go! Please write you assigned number on every wrapped present. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, we ask that you drop off presents in the morning carline or between 7:30-10AM in the office. All deliveries are being coordinated by our counselors, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Reddy. If you have any questions you may contact them at 832-223-1605. Thank you and have a safe and happy holiday season!
Sincerely,
Amy Evans & Kate Reddy

Character Building at Home
How Parents Can Promote RESPONSIBILITY:
· Give your youngsters tasks at home to accomplish.
· Focus on effort and a positive attitude rather than overemphasizing outcome.
· Applaud courageous social behaviors when your child avoids temptations.
· Insist that they take ownership for their own mistakes.
· Develop high expectations and link consequences to poor choices.
i For more information on how you can teach character at home, check out the CHARACTER COUNTS! publication, A Family’s Guide to Teaching Good Character.

Face Coverings (Repeat)
Students are required to bring two dress code approved masks/face coverings daily. One will be worn, and one additional mask/face covering will be brought in a sealed/ziploc bag. Labeling of the masks with a student name is suggested.
Mask questions we have received:
Can my child wear a face shield? Full-face shields may be used in place of a mask to protect eyes, nose, and mouth whenever a mask is not feasible or whenever the education context may benefit from the ability to see an individual’s full face.
Can my child wear a neck gaiter/buff? Yes, these are also approved.
Does the mask have to be a Huggins uniform color? No. Masks may be any color or design. However, no inappropriate language or images will be allowed.
***Please note that BSN Sports has graciously donated Huggins Hounds lanyards that will be given to students on the first day of school. Students will be able to use these lanyard to attach their masks so that they do not get lost.
Please click below for more information regarding face coverings.
