The Principal's Corner
We have accomplished some great things at our school during this first quarter. Our Cougars adjusted to a new grade level, made new friends, and felt love from a new teacher! My message at the Pride Assembly today was to rest and relax but get ready to grow in the 2nd quarter.
Thank you to all our parents who were able to meet with the teachers for conferences last week. I know the teachers appreciate the opportunity to share your students' progress with you. If you didn't get the opportunity to meet with your student's teacher, please know you are welcome to reach out to them!
The Canyon Rim PTA coordinated meals on Thursday and Friday for our staff. It was truly a wonderful gesture and was appreciated by everyone. Thank you to Jackie Galloway for organizing the meals and all the wonderful parents who brought food to feed our staff. It was delicious and it makes a huge difference. You all rock!
The month of October brings an annual tradition to Canyon Rim. Please join us for Teach or Treat on October 27th from 5:00-6:00 pm. This is a free event (please see below) and we love seeing our students dressed in their Halloween costumes! Speaking of Halloween, students will be allowed to dress in their costume for the entire school day on October 31st. There are some guidelines I wanted to share as your child shops for a Halloween costume.
- Costume accessories that are deemed dangerous or similar to weaponry are not permitted.
- No gore, costume masks/face paint or any item that will impede vision or identity
- No inflatable costumes
- Finally, all costumes should maintain the integrity of our school dress code
Please understand that these guidelines are put in place to ensure the safety of all our students. If a student’s costume is found to be inappropriate, she/he will be asked to remove the costume and parents will be contacted. Wearing a costume is considered a school privilege.
Students head home at 11:55 AM on Friday September 30th. Gilbert Public Schools will be on Fall Break for the week of October 3-7 and 10-14. School resumes on Monday, October 17th.
Have a great break,

CRE is a Latex-free school, as we have students on campus who are extremely allergic to latex. Because latex powder can be transferred through latex and even mylar balloons, we ask that parents keep the birthday celebration balloons at home. Thank you!
Library Corner ~
Thank you for ALL your support with our first Scholastic Book Fair of the school year! We brought in almost $16,000.00, and will be receiving just under $8,000.00 to spend on new books for our library. This school community is fantastic, and with your love of books and generosity we will be able to continue updating our book inventory. Mark your calendars for our next book fair, scheduled for February 6th - 10th. Keep Reading!

October Lunch Menu
PTA News
Hello Canyon Rim Families,
September brought us the ever-popular Grandparents Breakfast sponsored by Morris Hall Estate Planning Law Firm and it was a huge success! We served 650 breakfasts and had a great time doing it. The Library Book Fair was also crazy busy so please extend our thanks to the grandparents for coming out and having breakfast and shopping with their students. We had our second Kona Ice Day and we sold almost 400 Kona Ices! We learned a lot from the first event and the second one went way smoother as I am sure you heard from your students. Even being PRE-PAY ONLY, it was a great success. The PRE-PAY ONLY will continue so please be on the lookout for the flyer each month. No cash will be accepted the day of the event. Our cookie dough and butterbraids fundraiser kicked off and we have lots of order to be picked up. Butterbraid pickup/delivery is October 25th from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM. We are not able to keep items after 6:00 PM so please make arrangements for pickup or your orders may be forfeit.
October is another fun-filled month starting with a much-anticipated Fall Break and ending with our favorite Teach-or-Treat event. The Canyon Rim staff will be out in force, dressed up and passing out candy at this wonderful event. We enjoy seeing everyone dressed up in costumes and I think this year the PTA Board will be tough to spot – so be on the lookout for them. Flyers and social media posts about these awesome events are forthcoming, so make sure you have followed our Facebook and Instagram pages and got connected through our Remind app. We will have some fun volunteer opportunities for events as we move forward so be on the lookout for those. If you are not already a PTA member sign up to get on the list of emails that get sent out for volunteer opportunities.
Our next PTA meeting is on November 2nd, and we hope to see you there to find out what is going on and be a part of helping us decide what we will do for our students, staff, and school this year. We all hope you and your families have a wonderful and relaxing Fall Break! If you have any questions, comments, concerns or want to find out about upcoming meetings you are always welcome to email us at info@canyonrimpta.org or check out our website at www.canyonrimpta.org.
