Stay at Home if Sick / COVID Exposure
If a student is feeling sick, or has any of the exposure situations or symptoms listed on the self screening reference sheet, please test before coming to school.
If symptoms are consistent with COVID-19, the individual should not return to school until they meet the following criteria:
- 24 hours have passed since the resolution of the fever without fever-reducing medications and
- Other symptoms have improved and
- They have documentation of a negative COVID test OR a healthcare provider has provided documentation that the symptoms are typical of their underlying chronic condition (e.g., allergies or asthma) OR a healthcare provider has confirmed and provided documentation of an alternative named diagnosis (e.g., Streptococcal pharyngitis, Coxsackie virus), OR at least 10 days have passed since symptom onset.
If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, individuals who have been exposed to that individual as a “close contact” will be notified and provided with quarantine instructions that meet county and state guidelines.
We highly encourage all our community members to obtain the COVID-19 vaccination and booster they are available for their age group.
Health and Safety Measures
We continue to closely follow the guidance of the California Department of Public Health, Alameda County Department of Public Health, and Alameda County Office of Education to ensure our students have a healthy and safe space to learn. This information is outlined in the Alameda County School Reopening guidance document.
More information will be provided as released by the local authorities, but at this time we do know families can expect:
Self-Screening Before Coming to School is required for all students and staff. The screening reference sheet is here. If any symptoms are present, please test for Covid.
Face Coverings will be highly recommended but not required for all students and staff while indoors unless eating/drinking. Students do not need to wear a mask for Outdoor Activities.
Ventilation enhancements added previously will continue. These are enhanced ventilation systems throughout the building with the use of HEPA filtration systems and fans.
Hand Washing will be encouraged throughout the day using either soap and water or hand sanitizer.
Lunch and Snack will require students to remove their face coverings. We added additional seating at lunch to increase the spacing between students and additional ventilation to the space. Outdoor spaces will also be utilized for eating when weather permits. Snacks are to be eaten outside the classroom in an outdoor area.
Cleaning procedures that were implemented previously will continue including additional wiping down of high touch areas and the use of EPA approved products.
