Kindergarten Class News
October 29-November 2, 2018
Language Arts
The kids have continued to work on letter identification, letter sounds, blending words, and recognizing sight words. Rhyming is a skill that the whole class seems to struggle with, so we did a fun Halloween "Rhyme Around the Room" activity (pictured below). There were ten ghosts hung around the room with a picture/word on it. The kids had to think of a word that rhymed with the one on the ghost and write/draw it on their recording sheet. It was a challenge and we had to take a couple of breaks, but they all did fantastic!
Math
Patterns, patterns, patterns! The Kindergarteners continued to work with various types of patterns this week but filling in missing parts of patterns, creating them with paint daubers and various manipulatives, and using the SmartBoard to create them as well. Next up, we will start talking about positional words!
Social Studies
Choice making and earning money have been our discussion topics. We also practiced listening and speaking skills just as eye contact when you are both speaking and listening and a loud, clear voice when speaking.
