Principal's Update
From Dr. Duffy, James Monroe High School
April 9, 2021
Extended Daily Schedule
As you know from past newsletters, phone calls and alerts, we are moving toward a more normal school day starting Tuesday, April 6th. The schedule below outlines precisely which classes you will have each day during the new afternoon blocks. This longer day allows students to have their classes during the regularly scheduled times and have SOL testing, if needed, during the afternoons. The extended day schedule operates on a two-week rotation, which will repeat every two weeks. Note that since there is no school on Monday, April 5, that day is in dark grey.
Testing Starts Next Week
Students have already been contacted about End of Course tests held on the following dates:

Junior Night--It's Not Just for Juniors
Ms. Said and Mrs. Smith will be hosting a virtual Junior Night presentation next Wednesday, April 14th, at 6:00 pm via Zoom. This event is meant to facilitate an exploration of the various pathways available to you after graduation, with representatives from 4-year schools (colleges/universities), 2-year schools (community college), military, and the workforce/apprenticeships presenting on their respective pathways.
You do not need to be a junior to attend this event. The information in this presentation will be useful for all underclassmen to keep in mind as you get closer to your junior year. We will discuss how to start preparing for life after high school and the resources you have at your disposal to do so.
