>Class Enrollment and Non-Attendance
Hello SVEC Families!
Just want to make sure everyone knows what we do in September regarding class enrollment. If a student is enrolled in a class and they don’t attend in September, we assume the enrollment is an error. Sometimes parents forget to drop a class, or don’t realize they are enrolled….
So if a student doesn't attend a class in September, we will contact you and drop the class.
That will create openings for other families, and that way your student won’t get unsatisfactory moving forward in a class they don’t mean to be in!
*NEW* Attendance Process - Extended absences ONLY

>SBAC State Testing Make Ups for Last Year’s Test
We will be having regular state testing next spring, as we do most springs! But this past year we were unable to offer the Smarter Balanced Assessment, and we are required to offer make up testing this fall. This testing does NOT substitute for Spring 2022 testing. And we will definitely be making a big push to ask families to test in the spring.
For these make up times for this past year’s testing, we are simply making the make up testing available. The testing will be shorter, and less comprehensive, and parents will not receive as much information about their students. Students in grades 11-12 who have not yet had a chance to take the high school Smarter Balanced testing, or who did not meet standard are encouraged to sign up for these fall retakes.
More information about dates and sign ups will be released soon!

And thank you to everyone who supported our school by joining PTA during orientation or by purchasing raffle tickets!
>Blood Drive Opportunities
Join Sky Valley Education Center as we get out and donate blood as part of the Monroe Pop Up Blood Drive, October 18th and 19th at the LDS Church, 17332 Tester Rd. Book a blood donation appointment HERE. When you arrive to donate, share the SVEC code, "SVEC" to help us reach our donation goal. All donations are by appointment only. No walk-ins, guests, or people under age 16 will be permitted onsite. All donors are required to wear a face mask during their appointment, and need photo ID.
>Race and Ethnicity Data Requested
SVEC families along with all families in Washington state public schools are going to get a request for information regarding your students’ identified race and ethnicity.
You will get the request via Family Access, so look for that letter in your email.
Please know that no individual student data is being shared, and that we are required to ask you to respond. It’s a state requirement thing, not a SVEC or Monroe thing. : )
One of the benefits of having this information is we might like to see how homeschooling and parent partnership enrollment have become more diverse, especially in the last couple of years! : )
We appreciate your help!

>Playground Delayed - But On Its Way!
We are so sorry our playground isn’t here to start the year. The company had some supply issues and a fire in one of their warehouses. But we are back in business and are hopeful it will be installed by October - so stay tuned and look for our new playground equipment soon - rain or shine!
>Requirements for Being On Campus
Just some general reminders for all of us about what we have to do in order to be open for school! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Karen at email@example.com or 360.804.2709.
- Masks indoors for everyone ages 3 and up.
- No masks required outdoors, but social distancing of 6 feet is required.
- Distancing for students in classrooms is 3 feet. Everywhere else and everyONE else, is 6 feet.
We also have a detailed district-level protection plan, a campus protection plan, and cleaning protocols we are following in an effort to keep our folks safe while you are here. You can review that document HERE if you're interested!
Many surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis and PPE, including hand sanitizer and baby wipes will be available campus-wide for everyone’s use. We also have our tent outside in the courtyard for families who feel most comfortable being outside.
