Oregon Coast Culinary Institute

The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute is located in Coos Bay, Oregon. Coos Bay has a population of 16,060 and is the largest city on the Oregon Coast. Coos Bay is a beautiful place with the ocean, the forest surrounding you and the grand Oregon dunes.

It is a year round program and cost $12,000 for the one year program and $24,000 for the two year program. Other cost are for your chef uniforms, a knife kit, all of the food needed for your class, and your books. The baking and pastry program teaches about breads, cookies, cakes and other pastries. The teacher to student ratio is 20-25 students to 1 teacher.

There are on the campus jobs including: student ambassador, working on the garden or in the greenhouse, administration and cleaning.

The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute is an open enrollment campus, which means if you have all the admission requirements and the payment plan all ready you will be accepted. This school is part of Southwestern Oregon Community College.


The Institute of Culinary Education is located in New York City with a population of 8.3 million people. New York City is an outgoing, happening place with many things to do and see.

This baking and pastry program is successful because of two chefs, Nick Malgieri and Micheal Laiskonis. They both have lots of back ground in pastry and baking and have even won awards for their skills.

The teacher to students ratio is no more than 16 students to the one teacher. The school is very small, there are only 597 students. This school teaches you to create delightful pastries and desserts such as tiered cakes, breads, croissants, puff pastries and you learn the art of piping and decorating cakes.

Le Cordon Bleu started in Paris in 1895, and now there are 30 schools around the world. The closest one to Grants Pass is in Portland Oregon. It has a population of 603,106 and has many tourist attractions like the Portland Zoo and Washington Park.

This culinary school offers hands on learning with daily demonstration of the lessons. You are taught by a team of certified, skilled chefs. This program offers flexible scheduling and online classes if needed. There is no on campus housing, but there are apartments just walking distance away.

Le Cordon Bleu has been around for over 100 years, and is one of the top leaders in Culinary Arts. Its cost is less than other top culinary schools. This school is good for getting future pastry chefs ready for the real world, the chefs teach many tricks that will make your creations better.
