A Busy First Month!
Building Classroom Communities
CES staff members discussed our Hopes and Dreams for our students this year, and classroom teachers have led their learners through discussions and activities in order to allow each student to name a Hope and Dream that they have for themselves. Classes also developed Classroom Rules and Procedures so that everyone can learn in a safe, kind environment where we help one another to do our best!
Initial Assessments
All learners have participated in beginning-of-the-year assessments, such as STAR Reading and STAR Math. These assessments help teachers to determine student needs and to plan instruction accordingly.
Playground Party
Thank you to the PTO for hosting the Playground Party on September 13. It was wonderful to see such a great turn out of families in attendance!
Sign Design Workshops
CES student artists did a wonderful job learning about the sign design process as they contributed ideas through their artwork. Local artist Jayne Hastings will take the student ideas and create a final design for our new playground sign.
Open House, Hot Dog Supper & Book Fair
We had a fantastic turnout at our Open House last week! It was wonderful to see students excitedly sharing their learning with their families.
The CES PTO would like to thank everyone that participated in the hot dog supper. Thank you to Bronson Glines and Anna McDonald for volunteering and serving the food, Hackleboro Orchards for donating delicious apples, and Canterbury Woods Country Club for donating the water. Finally, our fourth graders did a wonderful job making the cole slaw for the meal!

Healthy Celebrations at CES
Transportation
If a student has a transportation change on a particular day (such as being picked up by a different adult), you must call the main office at 783-9944 or email Mrs. Blanchette at lblanchette@sau80.org to notify us of the change. Teachers will not necessarily receive an email with a change in a timely manner due to their teaching schedule. Remember, students may not ride a different bus than their regularly scheduled bus. This is to allow the proper numbers of students on buses for physical distancing and safety measures. Thank you for your understanding.
Cougars ROAR!!
We are the Canterbury Elementary School Cougars! In order to positively acknowledge our learners for their efforts, Cougars ROAR awards were developed last year. Students are acknowledged with a shout out in the afternoon announcements on the day they earn an award. Award certificates are presented and a photo is taken for all to enjoy!
