A WORD TO THE WISE...
*STAFF SHIRTS - If you have not placed your order, they are due!! Bring your check or exact change on Monday and get it ordered. These will be our Monday shirts as soon as they come in. If you don't have one, no jeans!!
*PICTURE - Bring a usable picture of yourself on Monday. Anything from 3x5 to 4x6 will be great! Not too big and not too small!
*ROSTERS - Please check your updated roster in your box with your View It list. If there are mistakes, we need to make sure they match. Email me your questions and I'll get back to you as we iron them out.
*FIRST DAY PROCEDURES- Virginia will have a folder in your mailboxes Wednesday morning. It will have your most updated roster. Please READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY. The documents are used in audits and therefore, must be done correctly or we will ask you to redo it.
*TRANSPORTATION - We should have busses and routes on Monday. Hopefully bus tags by then, too. As you continue to communicate with parents, please remind them to be patient the first few weeks with transportation. It is always slow!!!
*CTT and Active start will begin the week of August 27. The schedule for that will be:
Monday - fourth, Tuesday - Kinder, Wednesday - First, Thursday - Second, Friday - Third.
*TEAM HUDDLES will start the same week promptly at 7:30 and the two week rotation for the first go round will be:
27 - Kinder, 28 - First, 29 - Second, 30 - Third, 31 - Fourth, Sept. 4 - Specials, 5 - SPED
*JEANS CLARIFICATION - Mondays - Jeans, tennis shoes with our new Monday shirt (until they come in, please wear a red, black or other ORE shirt that still looks nice), Friday - jeans, tennis shoes and a school shirt, feeder zone shirt, "cute" shirt. Other than that, you can purchase one more day during the week for $5 a week or $20 a month. That check goes to Kathie G in the front office. "Bonus" day coupon must be turned in to Kathie G upon arrival at school in the mornings. Money goes to Teacher Fund.
***Jeans must be school appropriate - not too tight, without holes and rips,
***Tennis shoes need to look nice - on the newer looking side
WEEK AT A GLANCE
Tuesday - casual dress - work day all day long!
Wednesday - Day One!!! Let's get this party started!
Thursday - It's gonna be a great day!!!
Friday - You are invited our first of the year, staff social after school. Please to be determined. (jeans and tennis shoes are expected :) ).
FIRST THREE DAYS
*Make sure we know how each student is going to get home daily the first week!
*Ensure that they get to each. Lunch the first week or so is a bit crazy, but as with everyone, things get better. It is best if all teachers on on duty at least the first three days to ensure that students learn the procedures and that we get through lunch in a timely manner.
*All three days, students will be sent directly to the classroom. Please expect them at 7:35.
*Specials will start Day One! :) Dusti will explain to us on Monday how they will handle this.
*Afternoon dismissal, we will start the dismissal process at 3:00 the first 3 days. That means, we will start moving to the right location. Bus and car rider dismissal will begin at 3:05 (unless we are told differently). This will get us going a little early, but not mislead parents that we will always start early. If your team needs more time the first few weeks, that is understandable but keep in mind, the amount of time you give them, they will always take all of it. (The longer you give them, the less instruction time you have)
*Remember that when your duty is finished, please come wait in the front office (behind the closed door) for a rotation to help with car rider dismissal. Someone will be there to help organize and send you out to relieve a person on duty.
Things to know:
- New section - "seeds for growth" - if you see someone who is planting "extra" seeds for growth, send me an email by Friday so that I add them to our section in Owl Notes.
- Wednesday is professional dress for all staff. (Feel free to bring comfy shoes to run the halls if you need, preferably not tennis shoes.)
Points to Ponder:
1. What specific T-Tess goal do you want to work on this year? I am asking you for just one right now. Be specific. We will talk a little more in detail on Monday, but this year it needs to be more driven toward your own personal growth.
2. Are you ready for Day 1-3? Have you touched based with all your "missing" students and let Virginia know if you have confirmation on movers?
3. What are you going to do to keep the positive momentum going?
Goals for 18-19
2. Starting in January, teachers will focus on aligning two anchor stations with current learning in the classroom.
3. By the end of the school year, reading and writing teachers will be trained in the conferring process and create their own documentation of conferences.
