The Buzz from Beech
Beech Parent Newsletter - Week of October 18, 2021
A Message from the Principal
Hello Beech Families,
It was so amazing seeing all of you at our Trunk or Treat event! We loved spending time with you - even in the rain! We can't wait to continue this tradition and grow it even more next year!
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and that you spend time talking with your children about anti bullying as October is Anti-Bullying Month!
Thank you!
Ms. Nickel
Trunk or Treat Review!
We had some adorable, scary, and fantastically handmade costumes for our contests! It was really hard to choose winners, and even harder to communicate as our microphone got wet (and I didn't want to electrocute myself). Thank you for your patience and understanding as it was a bit more hectic than we planned for!
- Scary Contest Winners - Hannah, Sincere, and Kenya, and Richard
- Homemade Contest Winners - Tarynn, Isaiah, Nadiya
- Cutest Contest Winners - Brooklyn, Madison, Aubrey and Anthony
The trunk decorating was AMAZING! Generators were brought out, some of you had bubble machines, cauldrons, blow-up fun as well! We could not have done the event without you and are so thankful for each of you who made the decision to participate! We had staff walk around and vote on their favorite trunks! Here are our winners!
- 1st Place - Thomas Family - Goblins, Spiders, and Fun!
- 2nd Place - Yoki Family - Jungle Theme
- 3rd Place - Willis Family - Nightmare Before Christmas
Winners of the trunk decorating contest are able to pick up their prizes on Monday! They will be in the main office!

Exposure to COVID - Updates happening frequently - Must up to Date Guidance Below
Each day - Use the COVID-19 Screening Tool for Families (click on the PDF below)
All COVID-19 related decisions are completed with guidance from
Wayne County Health Department
- Keep your child home and call the office to report exposure to a positive COVID-19 case. We will need the following information: date of exposure to positive case, date your child became symptomatic, if exposure is from someone in the house then further questions will be asked when you speak to the Principal.
- You will be given information regarding possible date of return based on initial information. If there are additional people in the household and symptoms begin for them then we need to be informed and return date could be adjusted.
- Your child's teacher will be asked to put a few items of work together for your child.
Exposure at School
- Once the school is made aware of a positive COVID-19 case we will begin the process of contact tracing.
- We will use the School Quarantine Guidance Tool from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for those who DO NOT HAVE SYMPTOMS
- We will use the CDC guidelines for quarantine for those who have symptoms
- If your child is required to quarantine your child's teacher will be asked to put a few items of work together for your child.
In both instances, we will communicate via phone and if available follow up in writing via email. As a district, we will be using the Wayne County Return to School Roadmap. Moving forward, any positive case in the building will be communicated school-wide via letter. Please make sure that your phone and email are up to date in the main office with Ms. Dunn.
Early Pick-Up
Beginning Monday, September 20th, we will not be allowing early pick-up after 3:10. Please help us to be able to do our jobs and get to dismissal on time by following this expectation.

Student Birthday Celebrations
Beech does not allow for cupcakes, balloons, pizza, etc, to be brought in to celebrate student birthdays. We know that this could be disappointing for some children and for that we apologize. We have to monitor for food allergies and ensure that academic time is honored. Thank you for your support and understanding.
