Message from the Principal
Happy New Year Storm Families,
It’s been a great start to 2023 at Ridgeline! Students are settling back into their routines as we approach the end of the semester in the last full week of January. Please check your student’s grades on Skyward weekly as we finish this semester and begin a new one in February.
On January 12, Ridgeline hosted a School Board meeting where students spoke about their experience participating in Student Voice Forums. Student Voice Forums are meetings with groups of students to collect student responses to questions, such as: What is working well at Ridgeline? What could be improved? Where do you feel safe at Ridgeline? Where do you not feel safe? What do teachers and staff do that helps you? What are some things that get in the way of your learning?
It is important to us at Ridgeline to hear and to be responsive to student voice. At Ridgeline, we strive to create an inclusive culture that fosters a sense of belonging for all persons by respecting the dignity of each. The best way to respect the dignity of each student is to get to know them well and to create learning environments that make them feel valued and validated.
On January 13, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at a school wide assembly. Dr. King also sought to create a culture of dignity and belonging for all Americans. We, too, want to create such a culture for our students.
We look forward to continuing Student Voice Forums throughout the school year. We will also be collecting student voice through our Student Belonging Survey and by having student leaders speak to students individually. Together, we will make Ridgeline the best it can be for all students
Booster Club Meeting ~ Tuesday, January 17, 2023
Please join us Tuesday, January 17 in the RMS Library, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m for our January Booster Club meeting.
All new and returning families are welcome! We hope to see you there!
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Day
There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 16th . Schools and offices will be closed to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Public schools play a unique and vital role in our communities in that they are one of the few institutions to bring people from all walks of life together to learn to interact and belong respectfully in the same space.
We take this duty and responsibility seriously at Ridgeline Middle School, and we work to create a safe and welcoming environment where students can learn at high levels and families feel a sense of inclusion, belonging, and connection to our school community. At Ridgeline, we believe in accepting people for who they are. We believe in respecting all differences and learning to communicate and work together to live meaningful, productive, and joyful lives.
This belief aligns with the legacy and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who we will celebrate and honor on with a schoolwide virtual assembly.
Dr. King and his message of inclusion, belonging, and respecting differences is the reason we have a federal holiday on January 16th.
