GEORGIA AND THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
The revouluitonary war lasted from 1775-1783. there are 3 really important people who helped in the revolutionary war. those people were nancy hart , elijah clarke , and austin dabney . [more facts listed below] georgia was the youngest and most loyal coloney. Although georgians were loyal to the crownat the begining of the revolution but they began to protest and fight for georgias independence in 1775. Though georgians opposed british trade regulations many hesitated to join the revolution that emerged in the american colonies in the early 1700s.colonist that opposed british rule and wanted to break away and from their own country. many of the colonist were angry because of the ACTS (rules&taxes) they were forced to pay especcially because they have no vote in government.
nancy hart
nancy hart was georgias most acclaimed female participant during the revolutionary war . her single handed efforts against tories and indians in the broad river frountier . as well as her being a spy in th battle of ketttle creek.
elijah clarke
elijah clarke was a patriot and a hero of the revolutionary war. even a county in georiga is nemed after him" clarke county. "on valentines day 1779 clarke led a charge in the rebel victory at the battle of kettle creek wich took place in creek ,georgia.
austin dabney
Austin Dabney was a slave who became a private in the Georgia militia and also fought against the British during the Revolutionary War in 1775-1783. He was the only African American to be given land by the state of Georgia in honor of his bravery and service during the war and one of the few people to receive a federal military pension.
The Battle of Gettysburg lasted three days , from Wednesday, July 1st until Friday, July 3rd in 1863.Not all the soldiers who fought in the Battle of Gettysburg were men many women have fought disguised as men.
