Gregory Gardens Weekly Bulletin
Week of May 19, 2019
Greetings from Administration
It was a wet weekend, but we hope you found some time to get outside and enjoy your days off. Last week was great! We kicked things off with our wonderful Open House. Thank you families for coming by and enjoying root beer floats with us. We loved seeing student work on display in the classrooms.
Ms. Andino and Mrs. Phillips each have 3 new feathered friends in their classrooms. The kids are learning all about the chicken life cycle and caring for their new classmates. Fifth graders have been preparing for promotion, I am really looking forward to being apart of this year's festivities with all of you. Our Gator Garden continues to flourish, we now have strawberries, tomatoes, corn and herbs planted. Have you popped by to see the new benches and brand new storage shed? Thank you to our parents and classrooms who work so hard to keep our garden thriving.
This week, MDUSD will be hosting the final LCAP Speaker Series at the District Office. We hope you will join us on Wednesday 5/22, to discuss the LCAP and How it Impacts the MDUSD Budget.
We are looking forward to our last full week of the school year. With only 12 school days left please continue to arrive at school on time and ready to learn. We continue to work towards supporting student success by setting high expectations for student behavior and academics.
If we can support you in anyway, please do not hesitate to contact us.

PTA Corner
General PTA Meeting
Please join us at 7:50am on Tuesday May 21 for our monthly PTA meeting. We will meet in the multi-use room to discuss upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and what’s been going on at the executive board meetings. We need your vote on next year's board members! Every voice counts! See you there!
Field Day 2019
We are looking for volunteers to man the numerous activity stations at Field Day. What is Field Day you ask? It's a super fun morning with many activity stations, such as an egg toss, hula hoops, bubbles, and possible water ballon toss. Each class will visit every station to learn these different activities while having FUN. But WE NEED HELP! Hint: This is a fun event for fingerprinted grandparents or fun uncles - ask them!
Adopt the Garden
It's that time of year again and we need some of our loving families to "Adopt" the School garden. Feel free to make the school garden your own! Add to it, feed it, clean it, or harvest from it! Some of our families might pick weeks that are too early in the season for harvesting but we assure you, as veggies become ready to harvest--everyone will be notified to come to harvest in return for your hard work.
For more information and ways you can help, please connect with your PTA room parent or check us out on Facebook.

Preschool Happenings
This week, RSP hosted open house. Room K4 had a slide show of photos featuring students engaged in daily activities throughout the year. It was great to share with families from our class as well as other families who stopped in to see the classroom. We are proud of the community we have at RSP.
We are continuing our Spring Unit by singing 2 different versions of 5 Little Ducks (Super Simple Songs and Raffi versions). Singing the same song in different ways promotes flexibility. We shared both versions of the songs with parents to sing with their student at home. Singing school songs at home promotes generalization across settings.
Extended School Year
Due to our summer roofing project, RSP will not be hosting Extended School Year. All students who are eligible to receive ESY services will attend Sequoia Elementary with Nadia Visaya as the Principal. Stay tuned for more information about dates and transportation.
Drop Off/ Pick Up Procedures
We need your help to reinstate best practices for preschool drop off and pick up. Parents may not park or pull into the bus circle between 8:00am-2:30pm. Parents should park in a designated parking stall and walk their student to the preschool. If your child starts at 8:30 please bring them to the playground gate where your teachers will be waiting to receive them. 10:40 students should come into the pod and enter the playground from the back double doors. Teachers will be there to greet students. At dismissal, please park and walk to meet your child outside the pod at the appropriate time. Thank you for helping us streamline our procedures. We appreciate your flexibility.
