Students wearing their ID's last week were surprised with tacos! Our AP's gave away over 200 tacos to those following our safety guidelines. Positive behavior reinforcement in action via tacos!

SAT School Day

CHS will be offering the SAT on March 1st during the school day. All juniors are registered and will test for free. Seniors are allowed to register to take the SAT that day as well.

FAFSA REQUIRMENT FOR GRADUATING SENIORS

The 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opened on October 01 FOR SENIORS ONLY. Completing the FAFSA or submitting a formal opt out form is a Texas state graduation requirement. You can find out more on the CHS Counseling website or at https://tea.texas.gov/.../colle.../financial-aid-requirement When filling out, students will enter Champion High School as their current high school, and we will receive a notification they are complete. If you choose to do an opt out form, please submit to the counseling office.

Course Selection

Course Selection for the 2023-2024 School Year kick off with our annual Choice Days on January 31 & February 01. Teachers will be speaking with all students about what courses come next in their content areas and which might be the right fit for each student. Please check your email for a letter with the Choice Day specifics. We are asking students to make sure they are able to login to their Chocies360 account before counselors start visiting English classrooms for course selection in February. All students have access to a Choices 360 account. Their username is their complete BISD email (firstML##@boerneisd.net). Each student chose his/her own password. Please follow the “forgot your password” link if you have trouble accessing your account.

TSI Opportunities

Many seniors are inquiring about taking the TSI on campus to fulfill their college TSI requirement. We will be offering an opportunity to both Juniors (for CCMR completion) and seniors to take the TSI after spring break. You can also exempt from taking the TSI if you score high enough on an ACT or SAT. Juniors you will be taking the SAT on campus in March. Seniors: even if you did not use your SAT scores for admissions, you can send them in now to fulfill your college TSI requirement. Reach out to your counselor if you have questions.

Dual Credit

If you are interested in taking dual credit next year, your application should already be submitted. TSI testing for eligibility will take place next week during the school day. Please make sure you have registered through the Dual Credit Google Classroom and have paid on RevTrack.

The Whole Child

This 9 Weeks Counselors will be focusing on the skill Decision-Making with students. Decision Making is a person’s approach to problem solving, learning from experience, and using values to guide behavior and except responsibility. Counselors will help students process decision making through our course selection activities. Teachers will be reinforcing this skill during our Charger Chats every Monday morning.

The Community Foundation trustees all types of academic scholarships. A scholarship is a great way to support hard-working Hill Country students and create a legacy of education.

Congratulations to the following members who qualified at the Region V Competition and will move on to State: Lleyton Mabrito (3rd place Interior Design, Natalie Holder (3rd place Teach & Train) & Hailee Goodwin (1st place Teach & Train).

Col. Colvard and Master Sergeant Newberry hosted a wonderful military ball this past weekend. Senior Cadet Leaders ran the evening with precision. Lots of smiles and fun was had by all - including the "partaking of the grog"!

Ethan Handley and Cole Breckenridge won the 2022 SIFMA Foundation Fall Stock Market Game competition. Maybe they can give some of us some inside pointers!

The season just started for the Charms. Only a small group of officers competed this past weekend and ended up walking away with FIRST PLACE in Lyrical and Prop, as well as the Sweepstakes Award. Then Kambree Beavers placed 5th overall in a very competitive solo category.
