Message from the Principal
Dear Virginia Lake Families,
Happy Halloween! We are looking forward to a fun day tomorrow! A friendly reminder that we will have our Halloween parade tomorrow at 2:20 p.m. Our parties will begin at 2:50 p.m. Volunteers are welcome to come into the classrooms at 2:05 p.m to set up for the parties. Parents or guardians will not be allowed into the building if they are not on our classroom volunteer list.
Students should bring their costumes to school tomorrow to put on over their clothing after lunch. Please remember that we do not allow students to wear masks, blood, or weapons.
A friendly reminder that we do not allow food during our Halloween parties. This includes passing out candy to students in the classroom for after school. Goodie bags are allowed, but they can’t have any food in them. If a student brings in food to distribute to their classmates, it will be sent back home. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If your child borrowed a Halloween costume from our PTA, please return it to our school office on Tuesday.
Tuesday is pajama day. We look forward to a cozy day after a night of trick or treating.
On Wednesday, the Chicago Wolves will be sending a player to speak to our students about their reading program. Students who participate in the program will receive free tickets to a Chicago Wolves game. More information will be shared this week. We encourage students to wear the Chicago Wolves colors on Wednesday. The Chicago Wolves colors are gold, maroon, white and black.
Virginia Lake welcomes Mrs. Annette Nahulak, our school nurse, to our team. Mrs. Annette Nahulak. She is excited to serve our students in the health office. If you need to contact Mrs. Nahulak her email is nahulaka@ccsd15.net.
This week, our PTA will be hosting a coin challenge. All of the proceeds will go towards books from the book fair for our teachers and their classrooms. The class that brings in the most money for the coin challenge, will get to slime me. We are looking forward to raising a lot of money for our teachers and students.
Let’s make it a great week!
Warmest Regards,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal
Mrs. Annette Nahulak, VL's Nurse
