2019-2020 School Year 4-5-2020 Update #5
From The Principal
This week marks week four of being apart as a school family. We have learned a new way to gather and connect as educators and families. The teachers have so appreciated hearing from the kids and the parents about how things are going. We would like each of our families to let us know how things are going and share feedback about home or school. The link to the "Collins Family Check-In" is below and we will be able to share your thoughts with the teachers and the school counselor to make sure we are meeting your needs.
I love the way our Collins Community is supporting and lifting up one another. Through love there is always hope. We hope you know how much you are loved and missed!
To all of our families - big hugs and wishes for health and safety.
Chag Pesach Same’ach
You are our Superheroes - and you are always on our minds and in our hearts!
If there is a way we can support you and your family during this time - please share in the questionnaire below. If you are a family willing to donate to needs such as clorox wipes, sanitizer, toilet paper, or other needs that "at-risk" workers might need please share that in the "Collins Family Check-In".

Grades for Assignments
Teachers will begin placing grades in the grade book this week. All grades will have a zero weight therefor, they will not count toward a final grade average at this time. Our hope is that this will give parents an opportunity to know what assignments teachers are posting on Canvas for students and expecting them to complete.
Once the district directs us how grades will be taken for the 4th nine weeks, we will make the adjustments per district guidelines.
Please communicate to your teachers if your student is struggling with any of the work assigned through Canvas or via the "Hard Copy Work Packet".
For parents/guardians without a Parent Access Account (PAC) a hard copy of the report card will be sent in the mail. Due to limited district pick up and processing, we anticipate report cards mailed home may not arrive to you until April 15th or later.

Mrs. McCure Update
Greetings Collins’ students and parents!
I hope all of you are doing well. Please take a moment to fill out the survey from Mrs. LeBlanc. Remember that you can reach out to me at any time by either filling out the Google Form https://tinyurl.com/r6uqwod or emailing me at email@example.com. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Conroe ISD Social Emotional Learning (SEL) components within the Parent’s Resource page go to http://bit.ly/conroeisdparent . When you click on your student’s grade level, you will see a SEL piece. This upcoming week’s theme is motivation. I have thought a lot about motivation since we got the news that school would be closed until May 4. If you haven’t had a chance to watch Dr. Null’s Facebook live post from Monday, March 30, please watch it. One thing that stood out to me is that we should focus on one day at a time and look for the positive. In our house, we have decided to do a challenge for April that we are calling 30 days of Greatness focusing on what we can do each day. We had already established a routine of where each of us would work, but now we have added focus and staying motivated. I have created a paper calendar that I am using to track what we are doing. In taking our daily walks, we try to point out the beauty of nature as you can see in the video, and we are tracking our miles. This week nature was added to with wonderful chalk sayings left on the path and the blooming of honeysuckle! I found a coloring book a friend had given me for my birthday and am starting to work on my art skills. I am still working on that piano piece, but as you can tell Peaches prefers the bench. Remember, take this one day at a time, stick to a routine, get plenty of rest, eat healthy snacks, get some exercise, and know that you can do this!
