Resurrection-St. Paul School
News and Notes
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy May and Mother's Day! We have so much to celebrate this week! First, we want to recognize all the women in our community who are nurturing and raising our most precious gifts, our students. May we use Mary, the mother of Jesus, as a role model to guide us through this journey of motherhood in all its forms. May we remember to be gentle, kind, patient, strong, humble, and willing to trust wholly in our God's plan for us and our children. It truly takes a village to raise children, and we are so grateful you have chosen Resurrection-St. Paul School to be a part of your families' village.
We are so pleased to announce that in the last few weeks we have earned two very exciting designations. We have been recognized as a Maryland Green School for the second time due to our focus on environmental education and all the great works we do each day to be great stewards of God's creation. This past week, we hosted an AdvancED STEM review team. From Sunday through Tuesday, the team met with RSPS stakeholders, conducted 17 classroom observations, and poured through a plethora of artifacts demonstrating our program's alignment with the AdvancED STEM standards. We were notified on Tuesday that we have earned AdvancED STEM Accreditation! The team applauded our strong Science, Technology, Religious, Engineering, Art and Math (STREAM) programs. They also gave us guidance on areas of opportunities to focus on in our continuous improvement efforts. It is truly an exciting time to be an RSPS Panther!
This Monday, we will be celebrating a whole school Mass and crowning a statue of our Blessed Mother. We have included a few resources to celebrate the month of May and Mary, our mother, for adults and children. It is such a busy time of year, it is nice to take some time to focus on our faith and our families.
Blessings to all,
The RSPS Administrative Team

Executive Board Position Openings for the 2019-2020 School Year
It is that time of year, HSA Executive Board election season!
Per the Archdiocese of Baltimore's HSA/PTO Manual for Catholic Schools:
Terms of Office (page 22)
Officers of the HSA/PTO generally serve a term of one year with the possibility of a second consecutive term. Officers who have served two consecutive terms may be re-elected to the HSA/PTO after a lapse of one year.
- Officers include a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary (responsibilities for this office may require both a recording and corresponding secretary).
- The Officers, with the Principal and chairs of standing committees, form the Executive Committee.
Process for Electing Officers (page 19)
The President, in consultation with the Principal, appoints an ad hoc nominating committee chair who appoints four additional committee members. The nominating committee members are not members of the Executive Committee.
Members of the nominating committee are not eligible to hold an officer position. The Principal is an ex-officio member of the nominating committee.
The nominating committee:
- conducts an active, open search for HSA/PTO officer candidates from the general membership.
- develops a slate of two candidates per office (if possible)
- reviews the slate with the Principal
- contact the candidates, explains the duties, and determines their willingness to serve.
- presents the final slate to the general membership one month prior to the election at either a general meeting or in writing
The following HSA Executive Board member positions are up for election for the 2019-2020 school year. Elections for these officers will take place at the end of May:
- President
- 1st Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
If you are interested in being nominated or would like to nominate someone else for one of these positions, please contact Karen Murphy at kmurphy@resstpaul.org.
Committee Chair Openings
Are you interested in becoming a part of the HSA, but don’t have time to commit to a year-long position? Consider becoming a committee chair member!
The HSA would like to incorporate some new “fun”draising opportunities and community building events next year, but we can’t do it without your help!
Please see the attached flyer below for volunteer opportunities as a committee chair member. We are currently looking for people to lead (and join!) the following committees. Per the info on the flyer, if you are interested, please e-mail hsa@resstpaul.org.
