The Weekly Buzz 🐝
From Palmer River Elementary School
January 19, 2024
Dear Families,
Did you know that all of our students are participating in a blended and personalized learning model this year?
Blended personalized learning pairs traditional face to face teaching methods alongside an online program that adapts to each child's unique learning profile. As part of a literacy grant that we were awarded last spring, the district was able to purchase Lexia Core 5 access for each and every student at Palmer River Elementary School to serve as a complement to our ELA curriculum program, Wonders.
Lexia Core 5 is a research-based, computer adaptive software program that assists students in developing reading skills at an individualized level. The program is highly motivating, and our students seem to love Core 5 time in class. When students complete a skill level in Lexia, they receive a certificate. Students can also log on from a device at home. This year, PRES students have earned a whopping 484 certificates, with 136 being awarded this month, and 47 certificates this week! Amazing! Be sure to ask your child about Lexia Core 5 to learn more about this awesome program!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal & Dr. Cheryl Leandro, Assistant Principal

A Note from the Health Office for Parents/Guardians of 4th Graders
Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Fourth grade is an exciting time. Our students will be leaders as they celebrate their final class year here. We will be preparing the children for many transitions. You will witness many changes in their growth and development.
In the Health Office, a physical is collected before students begin their day one in September. The physical should summarize immunizations, any screenings done by the pediatrician, medical conditions or concerns, and a recent height and weight.
This wellness check-up should be dated within a year preceding September 1, 2023. The document may be faxed (508-252-5110) or submitted to the Palmer River Health Office at any time, including the summer.
Also worthy of mention - there are current fourth grade students that do not have an updated physical here in the Health Office. If you have not yet sent one in for your child, please do so as soon as possible. It is our goal to have our files in compliance before sending them to our Beckwith Middle School nurse in the very near future.
Thank you kindly.
