Biography
Raphael was born on April 6, 1483 and died April 6, 1520. Despite his early death at age 37, he left a large body of work. Many of his works are found in the Vatican Palace, where there are 4 rooms named the Stanze of Raphael. His largest piece of work, the fresco The School of Athens is located in the largest of these rooms. After his early years in Rome, most of Raphael's work was executed by apprentices his workshop from his drawings, with considerable loss of quality.
