January 25: Professional Development Day for Staff
Wednesday, January 25th is a professional development day for teachers and staff, there will be no scheduled classes (on campus or virtual) on this day. Students--use this day to get caught up on any missing work or projects!
End of 2nd Quarter: February 3rd
The last day of 2nd Quarter is Friday, February 3rd. The last day of classes for 2nd quarter will be Thursday, February 2 and students are highly encouraged to have all work, papers, projects and tests turned into teachers on this day.
There will be no scheduled classes or transportation to Challenger Middle and High School on Friday, February 3rd. Student will have a three-day weekend!
- 8:00 - 11:00 AM: Open Lab Support (students provide own transportation)
- 11:30 - 3:00 PM: Teacher grading and prep time
1st Day of 3rd Quarter
Monday, February 6th is the first day of 3rd quarter! Students can view their schedules using their iPads and the Synergy StudentVue app. Students will begin 3rd quarter in their 1st period classes and we will be on an hour-long advisory schedule the first two days of the quarter for Success Academy activities.
Are You Interested in Attending the Pierce County Skills Center?
Attention All CHS Juniors!
Would you like to learn a trade and earn college credit as well as an additional 4.5 credits in high school during your senior year at Challenger High School?
The Pierce County Skills Center has 14 programs to choose from: CLICK HERE FOR PROGRAMS
Each of these PCSC programs will satisfy a "CTE Graduation Pathway" as one of the three options for the "Graduation Pathway" state requirement. Passing the state assessment (SBA in both ELA and Math) or passing the military exam (ASVAB) are the other two "Graduation Pathway" options.
PCSC applications for next school year will be "live" on Thursday, February 23rd with a "Priority Window" open until March 2nd: LINK TO 2023-2024 PCSC APPLICATION
Would you like a tour of the building to check out the classrooms and meet the instructors? The PCSC will have an Open House on Thursday, February 16th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
We have also scheduled a representative from the Skills Center to be at Challenger on Friday, February 10th during Advisory time to present information and answer student questions.

Upcoming Schedule Changes for January and February
Mark your calendars:
- Jan. 25: No school for students, Professional Development day for staff
- Feb. 3: Last day of 2nd Quarter. No scheduled classes or busing to Challenger
- Feb. 8: 1-hour late arrival
- Feb. 15: 1-hour late arrival
- February 17: School is in session! Snow make up day
- February 20: No School, Presidents Day
- February 21: No School for students, Professional Development day for staff
2-Hour Late Start Plan for Challenger
Winter weather is here and there is always apossibility of having 2-hour late starts due to inclement weather, snow/ice or power outages. When these happen, here is the plan for Challenger Middle and High Schools:
- 2 hour late start = no busing or scheduled on-campus classes
- Remote learning day...NOT A DAY OFF
- Teachers will post materials and assignments on Canvas for students to work on at home using their iPads by 10:00 AM.
- Teachers will be available on Zoom from 10:00 - 11:00AM and then from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM to assist students. Teachers will post Zoom links on their Canvas pages and/or email these out to students.
- Attendance/Engagement will be taken! Students will be marked 'present' if they do any of the following: Complete and submit the assignment for each class, log onto Zoom and check in with all teachers, make 2-way contact with their teachers.
