From Mr. Lucita

Let’s start this week by passing out a ton of Thank You’s! These are directed toward students, staff, families, and friends.

This Saturday the Johnson Band hosted a Texas Color Guard Circuit Contest at our campus. There were almost forty groups competing in this event. These groups traveled from locations including the surrounding Austin area, Waco and as far south as the Rio Grande Valley. We were happy to welcome them to Johnson High School and provide an incredible experience for our visitors. This could not have been done without the time, effort, and commitment of our wonderful parents!! From the signs to the food, and even down to folding the floors, it was the volunteers that made this a contest that groups will want to return to again in the future! It was absolutely incredible and I cannot say these two words enough: THANK YOU!!

In addition to hosting this event, we also had a group competing! They had an awesome performance and for the third straight week, the Jaguar Winter Guard walked away with a first place finish in their division!! We are super proud of this group of hard working students and their accomplishments!!

This week we kick off our Vertical Fundraiser!!! Brian Lee will be on campus Tuesday during our band classes for the Text Blitz and Official Launch! Make sure every student turns in their 20 email addresses. We will only have two band fundraisers a year and it is extremely important that every student participate to help us raise the much needed funds. This crowdsourcing fundraiser has been extremely successful for multiple bands in our area and we want to reach that same level of success! We can make this fundraiser great, so let’s have everything turned in tomorrow! We officially kick off on Tuesday!

We want to wish our Johnson Choir the best of luck as they perform in a Pre-UIL concert this Tuesday!! May their performance be awesome!

This week we continue our weekly rehearsal and sectional schedule. Please make sure that you check the band calendar for dates, times and locations!!
