Math Workshop
We have been busy learning about 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes this week. We learned that 2-D shapes are flat and 3-D shapes are not. The shapes we learned were circle, square, rectangle, hexagon, triangle, sphere, cylinder, cube, and a cone. Ask your child about these shapes and see if they can name their attributes. For example a rectangle has 4 sides, 4 corners, and the oppostie sides are the same length. A square has 4 sides and 4 corners and it is a special kind of rectangle because ALL sides are equal. Here are a few pictures of our math workshop stations. Students are using their learned knowledge and applying it in their math station.
Math Journals
Composing and decomposing numbers. Students are creating an addition or subtraction problem, making using counters on the tree, and then recording it in their math journal.
